  1. This was the right thing to do. Can't hold up progress and the AECOM deal was far to conflicted.

    1. Really glad that Edgemoor pulled this one out. The statements from the Black Chamber were self destructive and out of line. Would like to see people at City Hall conduct themselves far more professionally but I guess we get what we vote for.

    2. Don't worry. We'll need another new airport 10 years after this one is completed. Burns & McDonnell will get another shot.

    3. A remodel would've been the better decision here. The Council's leadership has been suspect on this.

  2. Self destructive? Please explain.

  3. Definitely a great day for Kansas City!

We are moving past the politics of yesteryear and putting the best interests of KC first!

Give credit where it's due, the mayor has achieved his legacy now and will go down in history as one of the greatest leaders KC has ever seen.

  4. Greatest ripoff in history! Companies leaving left and right, no business re-locations, population same since about 1976, now competing with Omaha. I guess that is great!

  5. The only thing I can remember about this deal is the city managers desire to give Burns & Mac a "swiss cheese" opportunity to respond to competitors. The audacity of that is so corrupt. The young council should appalled at that and his ease of saying it and ease of thinking he could get away with it. I am angry at the city manager, but more so at these crazy council members who let that crap slide and now they are running mayor - Lucas, Reed, Justus and all the others. The black council members hide behind MBE goals and crap while pandering to their electorate. Cut the city manager out of the picture, find someone who is not learning on the job and see how greatly things improve in Cow Town. SWISS CHEESE! SWISS CHEESE! SWISS CHEESE!

  6. Go4kc you must me snorting coke off the same hookers ass as the mayor. This is going to be a debacle!

  7. KC couldn't even get shortlisted for Amazon, but the cities we consider competitors did - Nashville, Indianapolis, Columbus. 6:19 is CORRECT. New City Manager, please!

  8. Go4KC is the mayor !

  9. Although I am not a fan of Quinton Lucas, I hear if he runs for mayor and wins his first piece of business will be a new city manager HOOO RAHH! Pay his golden parachute and be done with him and done with that swiss cheese attitude and corrupt way of doing business. I blame the silly council members who can't hold their own city manager accountable. Troy Schulte runs the show. In reality the council work for him. Because they are spineless and allow him to do so.

  10. I here there were bribes paid to kill the deal with Edgemoor. Real Sanders like stuff, moving money around committees and then paying dummies for "work." Talboy might keep Skippy company? Who will play bitch?

  11. One of the most corrupt deals I've seen in quite a long time.

    KC deserves better than this.

  12. Go4KC - You sound like you are smoking crack? Do you realize that this airport process has been one of the most corrupt KC has ever seen. Not really sure that the votes are even accurate. KC living up to it's history of graft and crime, if that's Sly's legacy than so be it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Absolutely agree with @6:27 - Troy needs to go and we need to change the form of government. The City manager simply has too much power and he has been one of the worst we've seen in years. Just look at the debt KC has incurred under his reign. Absolutely unacceptable.

  14. You heard it here 1st2/8/18, 6:54 PM

And this is how Jolie Justus became mayor.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Let the corruption begin. To start with there are not a enough minority businesses to fulfill this. Look for the new companies that form with women, black, and Mexican owners to lock up that money. The Star and local media are MIA so that money is gone and wasted. That is just the low level corruption. This will go on and on as each entity takes from KC’s budget till this thing comes in over budget and sub par. What a disgrace.

  16. What a horrible mistake by council. The ones who sold out KC will definitely face a reelection challenge. Alicia Candady is definitely the biggest sell out.

  17. Holly shit, 7:06 is right, “Kansas City Entrepreneurs Devote February Pitch Confabs To Black-Owned Startups,” headline from kcur, already on the blog. Shitty job to make a quick buck.

Sly calling people hogs and talking about corruption.

That is certainly a laugh. He has been one of the worst officials KC has ever seen.

  19. If there was a bribe it was for yes votes, look at Lucas, shields and, Fowler. Look at who they took money from among other things. KC is getting fleeced and no one gives a shit. What a tragic end to something that had potential, the mayor flushed this turd now we are left smelling it.

  20. I hate fucking Lucas, he is a spineless windbag.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I would vote for a White supremacist in any election

    ReplyDelete
  22. Odds today

    Final cost +/- 1.4 billion

    finish date +/- 1-1-2024

    What say you?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Lucas is nothing but wind. He has no principles!

    ReplyDelete
  24. 1.4 billion no fucking way. 35% inept minority contractors guarantees a 20% increase over that.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Save KCI!

There are too many risks in building a terminal from scratch. Remodelng would be lower risk.

TWA's old termnal at Kennedy is beautiful and is being refitted to be a hotel.

KCI could be be remodeled to preserve its circular functionality but update its flow and featured.

    1. ^That makes too much sense. What would the Killa Shitty do if that much touted and magic MOMENTUM wasn't used to spend over a billion bucks?!

      Delete
  26. I’ve always said a remodel would work, all they had to do was put security in one end of the building, make everybody come in one end and the rest is wide open for passengers, food, and bathrooms. This should have been a simple fix.

    1. Oops! Again, we got another comment making way too much good sense.

  27. It ain't 35% minority. Half of that is white women.

  28. Five years from now apologists for Edgemoor will be saying...
"See, SEA-TAC wasn't so bad after all, just look at how they screwed up in Kansas City!"

We'll probably be the prime example in a book written to explain how the United States wound up with such a crappy system of Airlines during a time when the rest of the Western World was making air travel more cost efficient and comfortable.

    ReplyDelete
  29. KC will regret the edgemoor decision, just hope we can reverse course before it's too late.

    ReplyDelete
  30. 5 years from now they Might be started. If they build it,it will be 1. 2 billion easy

    ReplyDelete
  31. Corrupt?

Seems pretty above board to me.

Sounds like there's an awful lot of PANTS-SHITTING a-goin' on 'round here!!!

    Smells like it, too.

    YOU lost. KC wins.

    See you at the groundbreaking!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Corrupt! Your mayor tried to ram through a no bid Billion dollar contract. This led to gettting a second rate airport builder who won’t deliver. The corruption has just begun, say goodbye to a airport that makes a profit, rube!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Lucas is a coward and a sellout to his community!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Lucas did sell everybody out. He just ruined his chances for mayor. Won't ever happen now.

    ReplyDelete
  35. ^^^ Have to agree, for a while Lucas was looking like a viable Candidate, well-spoken, reasonable sounding, and not hog-like and laughable in appearance, but this vote proves he's nothing but another City Streetwalker, peddling his Political Ass to any buyer!

Lord, I hope she runs, HEATHER HALL GETS MY VOTE!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Do the council and city manager truly understand how unhappy people are with them? People can mouth off on a blog, but comments are so pointed. It is reflective of a greater unhappiness of the electorate.
