Show-Me Ferguson Fighting For Higher Missouri Minimum Wage With New Petition

This is one of about three efforts currently underway and headed toward the ballot box.

The deets:

"The petition proposal, if passed by voters, would increase the state minimum wage to $8.60 per hour next year and increase 85 cents each year until 2023 when it would reach $12."

FERGUSON * Betty Douglas has worked a decade at McDonald's in the St. Louis area, but she still barely makes more than the state minimum wage. Douglas, who says she is paid $7.90 an hour, struggles to keep up with bills. Utility disconnection warnings are a fact of life in her world, she says.
