SHOCK!!! DISGRACED FORMER JACKSON COUNTY EXEC MIKE SANDERS CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE STILL 'ACTIVE' WITH $436K DESPITE WIRE FRAUD GUILTY PLEA!!!

The legacy of Mike Sanders and his corruption is still intact according to a recent check of the Missouri Ethics website by our blog community.

An awesome TKC TIPSTER asks . . .

"Why hasn't the Missouri ethics commission in Jefferson City moved swiftly to shut down fraudulent "Sanders for Jackson County" campaign committee?"

Visit the MO Ethics website and notice that the controversial fund is still marked "active" and holds onto $436,512.32. To be fair, the fund has been marked as having "limited activity" in the latest reporting period.

While corporate and partisan donors probably comprise most of the funds, there are undoubtedly more than a few $20 & $50 checks in there from people who couldn't afford to give but still believed in a former prosecutor now fallen from grace and awaiting federal sentencing - At the very least, those people should get their money back.

You decide . . .

Comments

  1. The accounting is pretty straight forward with campaign donations so sending the money back wouldn't be a bad deal.

Don't know how there's still 8K drawn out of the fund from the January report though.

  3. Take the money and start the fund to build the new jail

  4. Probably because he has not been sentenced yet, likely he will be ordered to pay some back. He did put some of his “own” money in the account in the past, it would be interesting to see where that really came from. This story is not over.

  11. 6:16 The Star hasn't followed up on Frank White's mystery home financing deal either, the one Mike Sanders brokered for him. It's totally dropping the ball too when it comes to Frank misappropriating money left and right to pay his cronies and to hand out "consulting" contracts.

  12. Mike, you said you would clean up the County but you only cleaned out my bank account. I believed in you but you lied! Shame on you, tell your cronies to stop asking me for more donations. I am done with politics. You have convinced me that you people are all crooks!

  14. Better question:

Does Georgia still have a job at the County? Seems like she should be on her way out or at least have to answer some questions about her involvement in this scam.

  15. He needs that money for his commissary account, honey rolls and ramen ain't cheap.

  16. Mike (the candidate) and Georgia (wife and Treasurer) filed sworn statements with the MO Ethics Commission every quarter for the last couple of years, stating that Sanders was a candidate for the Jackson County Executive race.

Everybody knows that's been a lie since Sanders resigned suddenly after the FBI started checking him out.

Filing fraudulent statements with the state is a crime in itself.

  17. ^^^ If filing false statements is a crime, doesn't that mean we have to try the Governor and all Legislators too?

  19. I wonder how much time he'll get. They keep saying that the judge will be hard on him because he should've known better but I'm guessing it's going to be a slap on the wrist.

  20. The Missouri Ethics Commission is not interested in punishing any political insiders. They wait for the inexperienced citizen who might challenge the status quo and then they drop the hammer.

  21. No worries, lying Mike Sanders will end up just like his father, 6 feet under, which was no accident.

  22. I am thinking he gets more time than people expect, and other aspects of some of the deal making during his tenure get reviewed very closely. ATA money for Rock Island is a good place to start, Fifty Eight million for something that is dead in it's tracks (that is a railroad pun)

  24. KCMO people seem unable to grasp the simple historical fact that their town has been run by cons, scammers and grifters since the dawn of time. Vice and graft are what made Kansas City, and why it has a hard time justifying its existence now.

Kansas City's last prosperous period was the Boss Pendergast era, when the city gained its spot on the map by supplying then-illegal booze, along with dope, gambling and sex, to much of the United States. One reason KC's more expensive neighborhoods still have ridiculous little fake-European statues and pseudo-ancient columns at their entrances is that there was a huge effort to make the more successful Kansas Citians look like respectable, upper-class burghers ... even though all of them (except for a handful of fabulously wealthy cow and pig exterminators) built their fortunes on booze, dope, blowjobs and thuggery. "Kansas City nice" is just a public relations stunt.
