I'm sure he'll get some haters on this one but this is actually a really great idea. Also, the people who criticize haven't really done much with their own lives.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to see classes with practical applications being added to high school curricula. Other subjects that would be beneficial to high schoolers are shop, home ec and personal finance.

ReplyDelete8:43---A lot of those classes in H.S. got shot to hell with No Child Left Behind just like art and music and obviously there is no more mandatory phys. ed. I've long maintained that i a students Jr or Sr year boys be required to take a semester of home Ec and girls should be required to take a semester of basic automotive/shop. I wish them well.

ReplyDeleteParents, grandparents, and others should be teaching kiddies useful life skills. Yes, it's good for girls and guys to get all the basics around the house, garage, yard, and, definitely, the art and science of money management magic.
ReplyDeleteFarm families seem to take care of biz ensuring the youngsters pitch in. Do urby and burby brats these days have actual CHORES? Anybody else remember getting ass paddlings or privileges lost for shirking the work? Dang, I remember hustling that last half hour before Mom got home from work. When Dad was at the FD or his second job, he'd call to check if our jobs were done, and to warn us of Mom's wicked can o' whoopass!
