KANSAS CITY RETAIL POSTSCRIPT: OR DID YOU GO TO A PRESIDENT'S SALE TODAY???

The decline of retail has been well documented by our local media in bits and pieces . . .

Nordstrom is abandoning Oak Park Mall in favor of the Plaza which might or might not be just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Kansas City's signature corporation Hallmark is still struggling to stay relevant and continues to send the very best pink slips.

And again, Independence Center wants to "reinvigorate" after a foreclosure fire sale and millions worth of debt sold off.

But what's past is prologue and simply brings us to our practical question tonight . . .

THE DEARTH OF KANSAS CITY'S PRESIDENT'S DAY SALES REVEALS FUNDAMENTAL WEAKNESS IN LOCAL RETAIL!!! OR DID YOU GO BUY SOMETHING AT THE MALL TODAY???

Believe it or not, President's Day used to be a big deal for local merchants . . . Whereas most people simply spent this "holiday" on their phone or at their computer as usual.

You decide . . .

Comments

  1. President's day is more of a banking holiday. Just a way to keep people away from their money.

Most people couldn't care less about former Presidents.

  11. Celebrate the combined Holiday of the greatest President the Country has ever seen and the President who caused the greatest loss of life the country has ever seen? No thanks. I still call it Washinton's birthday and skip the other.
