Kansas City Highway Of Death Conversation

Here's the aftermath of tonight's talk about ONE OF THE DEADLIEST ROADWAYS in Kansas City that neither locals nor statewide officials offer any plan to fix in light of recent shootings and increasingly treacherous traffic. Checkit:

Kansas City, state officials offer ideas to make busy roads safer after recent pedestrian deaths

After pedestrians were killed on 71 highway and Prospect Avenue over the weekend, there's an increased effort to make the busy roads safer. Thursday evening, the Missouri Department of Transportation joined city leaders and transportation officials to discuss new studies of the two roads.

  1. It's Cleavers, falt it is not a interstate. When it was being built Cleaver wanted a Parkway.

  2. No story about how a single truck accident kept a major traffic artery closed for almost 24 hours?

  3. KC highways are all a mess. A damn shame that this city can't do a better job with our streets. When you really, really think about it - It's because so many people are allowed to escape responsibility from any citizen review or state review.

  8. The lack of details in news stories about pedestrian traffic deaths makes it hard for the public to determine what the causes were. For example, the story about the woman who was killed at Gregory and Watkins Parkway only said that there is a crosswalk at that intersection. However, there is also a traffic light, and we have no infoamation whether she was crossing with or against the light, wearing dark clothing that made her hard to see, etc.

One remedy might be to start ticketing people for jaywalking. I often see people scampering across the street in mid-block, instead of crossing at an intersection. It is not unusual to see jaywalkers pushing baby carriages across the street in traffic. I don't much care whether the crosser gets a Darwin Award, but object to putting the innocent baby in danger.

  9. Here's the deal..Dumb ass pedestrians think the green light is theirs...No dumb shits...That big red hand doesn't mean HOW. Are they that fucking stupid that they cant wait for the pedestrian light to change...Solution is just keep on running them over. Prove Darwin is right.
