Edgemoor #BetterKCI New Airport Deal Advances Out Of Committee But Still Doesn't Have The Votes: Time To Move On???

Interesting . . . Today Kansas City mainstream media attempts to distract the public with a committee vote but mostly overlooks the drama behind the scenes and the embattled MOU still on the precipice of collapse.

Yes, the Edgemoor deal advanced out of committee today but even it's harshest critics approved.

Capitulating to MBE and public ring kissing was the order of the day.

What's disconcerting is to see the public and even old school consultants so easily misled by reassurances and cute speeches. Meanwhile, if elected officials were really excited about this effort, there was nothing stopping them from passing it through council today. The week-long waiting period is mostly geared toward cooling down MSM newsies and taking the finicky public out of the discussion. Notice the dearth of insiders speaking up for Edgemoor today as most Kansas City leaders attempt to let this deal quietly die by way of neglect.

  1. I like how Sly came down to personally guarantee it would be passed. He wanted it voted on by the full council today to but didn't get his way.

    2. It's really ridiculous that Kansas City is stalling this deal. Such a shame that we can't just approve it already. In the week of waiting we can expect to see some votes change and a few damning stories about Edgemoor come out. It council was really concerned about moving forward and capturing out momentum. We would have passed this thing TODAY!

Get with the program Council. The voters have spoken!

You really can't make this stuff up.
Wonder why serious companies like Amazon don't want to waste their time dealing with these hicks.
About time for Mike Murphy's cattle drive to come back downtown!
This started as a secret no-bid deal and will end up costing probably $2 billion, while the proper maintenance, upgrades, and renovation of the existing terminals could have been done for half as much or less.
    What a joke!

  4. Hey Citizen Kane, way to go. You couldn't have been more wrong yesterday.

But buck up, you'll have another chance to be totally wrong tomorrow!!!

And maybe you'll be able to take criticism a little better than just deleting them.

    1. Keep up the good work and keep those comments coming!

Don't worry, more good stuff on this little billion dollar slap fight is coming up for tomorrow given that, just as we predicted, the final vote stalled. I would say "stay tuned" but I know you'll keep coming back for more . . . Love ya like a sister!

    3. ^^^ Hey, Tony was right. You made it back! We missed you so much! See ya in a few more hours, try to get some sleep they'll be more work for you to do!

I think you might be disappointed if you're holding out hope for Edgemoor. If you would have read any news article, you might have noticed that the vote isn't final yet.

In the meantime, we really value your opinion and constant patronage. Have you seen the merchandise section? Buy a couple of t-shirts so you can tell all of your friends about us!

  6. If the council doesn't approve. They should probably just keep the old airport.

  9. Based on past experience, I reckon no one on the council knows what's actually in this deal. Not unlike the p&l agreement which keeps unfurling decades later.
