TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! PITCH IS GONNA SUCK THANKS TO OWNERSHIP BY ADVERT DUO!!!
Our KICK-ASS TKC BLOG COMMUNITY called it and now it's news fact . . .
Remember that we warned of a sponsored content advertorial gambit last year . . . And now it's new fact . . .
KCUR: Kansas City Natives Buy Alternative Magazine The Pitch
Hint at our journalistic insight . . .
"New Pitch owners Stephanie and Adam Carey say they plan to keep the magazine "extremely focused on Kansas City journalism." The pair, who both graduated from high school in Johnson County, tout their personal connection to the metro area and to the magazine itself. The pair refers to Stephanie Carey as a "long-time reader of the publication."
About this Carey Media, LLC . . .
"Proven business development and marketing professionals with extensive experience in high profile and national brand campaigns."
Translation: The ownership is focused on advertising and not journalism.
Sadly, on this front they've already been outflanked by local marketing rags like Feast and so many others willing to shill content for a buck.
Fact is, The Pitch hasn't been relevant for at least 3 years and we've been rooting for their return into the fray of the local discourse.
From experience we know that marketing peeps get bored with this endeavor as soon as they realize that small biz would rather give their money to social media than local marketers.
In fairness, here's the upbeat take on the tragic Pitch swapping.
And then the take from the KC Biz Journal: A quick questionnaire for The Pitch's new owners
And so . . . Another Dead-Tree outlet fades into the past as our blog community continues its mission of AWESOME.
