TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! CITY HALL FORCED TO DOUBLE DOWN ON MORE TAXES TO FIX BROADWAY BUCK O'NEIL BRIDGE!!! HAS ANTI-TRUMP PARTISAN RHETORIC RUINED KANSAS CITY HOPE OF FED FUNDING????

At the end of last year a 1-cent sales tax "renewal" was quietly put on the ballot in order to keep the Broadway Buck O'Neil bridge from closing and causing most Northland residents to secede from KCMO.

Real talk that nobody else is allowed to report: This is a tax INCREASE because very little of the cash will go to Public Improvements Advisory Committee (PIAC) - Because they've been looted for years by the Streetcar and a litany of pet projects.

Even better . . .

KANSAS CITY'S LAST HOPE OF TIGER GRANT FED FUNDING IS THE HIGHLY TOUTED INFRASTRUCTURE BILL BY PREZ TRUMP!!! BUT HAS DIVISIVE RHETORIC FROM LOCAL POLITICOS RUINED THIS TOWN'S ODDS OF GETTING OUR SHARE OF THAT MONEY?!?!

Probably.

In the meantime . . . Here's a glimpse at the future for Northland commuters or anybody who needs to quickly visit the nicer part of town:

- GO BOND CASH is quickly disappearing and Council doesn't want to "waste it" on Northland drivers.

- KCMO is always last on the list for Missouri politicos and a locally based attack on Guv Greitens isn't helping the case for MoDOT improvement.

- Election season quickly approaching will keep KC politicos from enthusiastically pushing even more taxes . . .

Developing . . .

  1. let's be honest, not even trump would believe anything from KC politicians. So it wouldn't have helped if they kissed his ring. Or anything else.

    2. Has anyone considered this:

The 35 million dollars we're giving Mike Burke for the hotel would go a long way toward solving this funding problem. That's why we need to take a real good look at our priorities before we chase these shady development deals.

  2. KC doesn't manage that bridge, the state DOT does. It's being rehabbed this summer. It was not danger of closing. It's just old and not pedestrian friendly. KC wants it replaced with something nicer.

  3. ^^^ B.S. Missouri lies. MO DOT is asking KCMO for 60 million to close a funding gap.

Why are Missouri politicians so corrupt and stupid?

  7. At one time the politicians in Jefferson city bent over backwards to help Kansas City Missouri you have to remember Missouri is a Red State. And the conservative in Jefferson city see the waste of taxpayers money on projects and and the problems aren't solved and the protests and the crime .They will give that money to the LAKE OF the Ozarks area and Branson and have a better return on there investment.

  8. The death of the earmark in house bills has ruin this chance for a bridge. Earmarks got us the new Paseo Bridge and the big incubator up in Northwest Missouri State. I was reading earmarks might be coming back so let's hold our breath

  11. Have to agree with @4:30 - Unless Oprah decides to buy us all a car, KC is stuck with a lot of projects that need a massive amount of federal money but won't get it.
