TKC MUST SEE!!! HERE'S HOW TO START YOUR OWN KANSAS CITY ART GALLERY!!!

Right now, let's contemplate some important info for those who want to open up their homes to a brand new collection of Kansas City randos, strangers and hipsters.

To wit . . .

SPECIAL THANKS TO TAXPAYER-FUNDED DENIZENS OF THE KANSAS CITY ARTS SCENE FOR THIS GUIDE TO OPENING AN INDIE ART GALLERY!!!

To be fair, when a local artist can't place work in one of the many glutted local shows or find an audience online . . . It may be time to think about another career OR at least realize that the fine art-world is just another corporate scam.

Either way, TKC isn't going to stand in between anyone and their dreams . . .

So here's one of many ways to open an art gallery at your place in Kansas City and possibly get one of those nice local grants usually reserved for middle-class casual drug users who still retain a decent working vocabulary of inane jargon.

Infoblog: How to Start Your Own Artist Run Space

Deets:

The Apartment Gallery or Artist-Run Space often provides an alternative version to local institutions. These spaces showcase the work of under-recognized artists and challenge the current social and cultural moment in an artist community. While these spaces take a lot of energy, their core facets are easy to grasp.

In this workshop with Informality and Artist INC, you’ll pick up the basics and be able to ask questions, form some ideas about starting your own space, and find funding through upcoming local opportunities.

Building a strong network of alternative spaces is going to be incredibly important for Kansas City in 2018. Any artist, visual or otherwise, can apply to be a “cultural partner” as an alternative space for Open Spaces. We will also go over the basics of that application and how it can be a platform for empowering the artist run spaces in our community.

There are two sessions for Do A Thing:

  1. Don't be a hater.

This is a great way to meet women with horrible decision making skills and very low standards.

  2. I would consider starting an art gallery but there i may not qualify, because I am not a homosexual. Most artists are queers.

    2. I’ve never even sucked a cock yet and have no desire to do so. That would be a severe competitive disadvantage in the art business.

  3. Kansas City hipsters are getting weirder by the year. That and all the metrosexual male feminists going around to these things. No thank you. I just don’t get some of these “art” shows and what they think is art. I could go take a box of rusted bolts, lock nuts and washers, glue them in a pile and call it diversity in KC..then hipster would walk up to me and say wow man I really see what you did there, I stand in solidarity with you.

  10. I take a dump in the Duchamp in my house and call it a maker space.

Couple times a day on average.

  11. Oops I messed up my own clever joke.

The infamous Duchamp work was a urinal and not a bowl.

Change dump to piss, and change couple to several and you've still got yourself an absolute cracker of a joke.

  12. Piss on that thought.
