TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! COUNCIL MOVES CLOSER TO OVERTURNING KANSAS CITY STREETCAR VOTES AMID ONGOING ELECTION AND DEMOCRACY DEBATE!!!

This week City Hall threatens to cancel 17,344 votes demanding citywide support for the embattled Kansas City streetcar.

Like it or not, insiders reveal the struggle to kill Kansas City Democracy doesn't have much opposition among elected officials.

Here's the word . . .

There are only two "NO" votes on the ordinance the council wants to enact (171032) to get KILL our petition which requires a CITYWIDE public vote before KCMO can spend money on planning for expansion or building a new streetcar (our Question 1 initiative won approval last August with support from more than 17,000 voters across Kansas City).

And then the topic of a corrupt process is up for debate in Jeff City . . .

Tonight at 5:00 p.m. there will be a hearing on the floor of the Missouri House of Representatives on a bill that proposes to eliminate the mail-in voting provision of the Transportation Development Statute. The bill is sponsored by Blue Springs Representative Dan Stacy.

Either way, these election issues remind us that, more than anything, the toy train streetcar helped destroy the myth of free & fair elections in Kansas City.

Developing . . .

  1. Sly has never cared about Democracy.

You want an even worse story. Just ask about voter registration and the airport votes.

KC voting has always been rigged.

  2. Tony you have thrown your lot in with politicians who would sell you into slavery because of your skin color.

  3. ^^^ Please translate that one.

You're kinda right, a blue Springs Republican doesn't really have a lot in common with KC issues.

Why is he legislating against OUR streetcar?

  4. how about a provision that says the city can't issue bonds for street car construction?

let the uber local TDD district issue their own fucking bonds!
Have fun with the interest rate!

  5. sorry to disagree on policy (not process, which is messed up): converting the urban core to a thriving area requires a critical mass of amenities and the streetcar is one of those.

true, the whole thing could crash and burn, but we can't balk in midstream.

    1. Nonsense. It's called throwing good money after bad. The P & L hemorrhages millions. Somebody's winning in this grifter's paradise but it ain't the citizens.

  6. ^^^^The streetcar will almost certainly crash and burn, given its fixed rail limitations. The urban core can be converted to a thriving area with buses.

  7. Perhaps we can convert the urban core to a thriving community but at the cost of letting the remainder of the city continue to deteriorate. Outside of Brookside and a small pocket of subsidized Briarcliff the entire portion of KCMO is on a downward slide.

  9. Once paid parking comes to the City Market later this month the end of the River Market and downtown will begin. Free loading streetcar riders will have nowhere to park-n-ride for free so they will not both coming downtown at all. Employees of the businesses will have nowhere to park and the business will pull out and relocate to the burbs.

  10. But sLIE said you’ll be getting more taxes back because of Trumps tax plan so now you can afford it!
