The Long, Complicated Road To Fixing The Jackson County Jail

The Jackson County jail is a mess. It's overcrowded, understaffed and from elevators to toilets, there's a lot that's broken. Everyone agrees with that. But how to fix it is complicated and fraught with politics. Actually, when you walk in the lobby, it is bright and clean and not entirely unpleasant.

  1. Right - the only reason to have it close is for transporting prisoners to and from court. But I think long term safety is more important.

  2. SLIE don’t want no murderous coloreds in his downtown, plus all the family members protesting out front makes “his downtown” look bad, and it scares all the snowflakes that live downtown. This is just setting up for taking more taxpayer money to build one somewhere else. I think they should build one on prospect! Give those people over there jobs that they don’t have to drive too! Lmao!

  3. This task force of Frank White's is a farce. It's taking on the monumental task of not just trying to fix the county lockup but also reforming the criminal justice system. Sure. Okay.

  4. ^^^ Frank might want to start by reforming his own administration. Between perjury and misappropriating funds, he and some of his staffers just might wind up in jail.

  5. Is the task force addressing the issue of Frank using money allotted for hiring new jail guards to instead pay the salaries of Caleb Clifford and Angie Jeffries and Frank's other courthouse fluffers?

  6. Are COMBAT tax revenues enough to finance building a new Jail?
Having an uncomfortable, unpleasant Jail in which criminals have to spend really unpleasant periods of time might do far more to prevent crime than handing out t-shirts and ice cream cones ever would.

  8. One of the few counties in America where the sheriff is not responsible to manage the county jail. One of the few counties in America where you have a completely separate administration and corrections staff and the fucking county can still not manage a God Damn jail? Looks to me like the problem with these local yokels is no one has demanded fiduciary responsibilities or accountability. Perhaps it is time a few head rolls and the bullshit excuses stop. Your tax dollars at work.

  9. I see a new taxpayer funded repurposing the jail as Power and Light 5

  10. Frank White should tear down the building and sell the land for a profit. Maybe they could build a new jail in Independence.

  11. 3:37 Or Frank could use the money to buy one of his "fluffers" a new pick-up truck or to pay off whoever "gifted" him the money to stop his house from being foreclosed on. (Great line 8:23 to describe the sycophants who suck up to Frank White, his fluffers.)

  12. Pick a field in eastern Jackass County, fence it, pitch tents and hand out the pink uniforms and stocking caps.

  13. How to fix the jail? First, you get a wrecking ball and a bulldozer....
