The Latest Jackson County Cry For Help

Transcription of another wish to have a politico wreck their career during an election year . . . Reality check: It's not going to happen and is probably a Democratic Party trap. But here's the idea floated by the newspaper:

Legislators want Missouri attorney general to look at Frank White's taxes, finances

The political chaos enveloping Jackson County is expected to take another turn next week as county legislators plan to ask Missouri's attorney general to investigate a number of issues surrounding County Executive Frank White. Among some legislators' concerns is The Star's finding that when White filed for office in 2016 he signed a sworn document declaring that he was current on all state and local taxes.

  1. This county legislature sissy fight reminds me of a backwoods school PTA with all the fat old marms fighting over peanuts for power. I bet teh county cold abolish the legislature and things would be just fine in pretty short order..

  2. @ 5:51 Right on. The problem here is obviously the legislature, not the incompetent jackass who's county executive. And make that incompetent and corrupt.

  3. Frank has lost his political advantage. His name ID is now synonymous with chaos and infighting, not baseball.

  4. All for it - as long as the AG looks at the taxes and finances of EACH AND EVERY MEMBER OF THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE AS WELL!

  5. Based on The Star article, it's pretty obvious Frank White never should have been elected county executive in 2016. And who knows if he had his taxes paid up back in 2014 when he ran for county legislator? The guy was quite likely ineligible to run both times. How the hell did a guy who made the money Frank White did have this kind of trouble paying his property taxes, so much trouble that his aides apparently passed the hat around to pay up his taxes for him? Wow.

Resign now Frank. Or do you really what more humiliation?

  6. A state audit of Jackson County is a much more realistic possibility.

  7. 6:22 Who is to say Frank White isn't still having all kinds of financial troubles? I just can't figure out how anyone can have the trouble he's had, or still having, can claim he didn't know he owed on his taxes or that he was behind on his mortgage? I don't buy it.

He had to have been sent notices.

He lied when he filed to run. He should be charged with perjury.

  8. Frank White must think we're all as stupid as he is. He's trying to tell us, with a straight face, he didn't know he owed on his taxes, when he owed on his federal, state and local taxes?

He's either one clueless dip-shit or a lying piece of shit using his public office for private gain. That may make him no different than any other politician, but Frank promised us all he was going to be different, that he was going to be a real servant of the people.

Instead, it sounds like he's just using people.

  9. I'm sorry Frank White somehow blew all the money he made. I'm more sorry for the employees he's abusing at the courthouse because they won't follow his illegal orders. I'm more sorry for the county taxpayers he's robbing.

  10. 6:16 OK with me. That doesn't get Frank White off the hook, you know?

  11. 6:53, check your facts, their is an opinion by a law firm (paid by the county at White's order) and the county counselor seems to back it up that the legislature passed an ordinance that is illegal.

Putting that aside, it's obvious that the legislature has no intentions of working with him. In particular Tarwater seems to be the leader, the guess of most politicos is that he'll (Tarwater) will run for Executive.

No doubt Frank has made missteps and he needs to step it up or get out of office, but, it's the legislature that is looking like a bunch of bullies. They should stop the fighting and work for the taxpayers and quit wasting time and money and check their egos at the door!!!

  12. 7:39 Frank White was trying to order a finance guy to sign off on paying staff out of the COMBAT fund that the law states has to be used for anti-drug and anti-violence and CAN'T be used to pay for the likes of Caleb Clifford, Angie Jeffries and Frank's PR team. And if you want to put your faith in the Graves law firm and Steve Nixon... The former would be Sleazy Mike Sanders' pal and the latter signed off on Sanders' $60K consulting contract.

Frank is handing out millions in contracts, bullying employees left and right, lying about his taxes, and, oh yeah, skipping out on going to most of the meeting. He's the one who's given Graves more than $200K and bought little Caleb a $30K truck.

Frank needs to be shown the door.

  13. @ 7:39 Are we calling lies and corruption and incompetence "missteps" now?

  14. 7:39, last time I checked an opinion is just that, an opinion, not law. You can’t pick and choose which laws you think are valid and ignore the ones you disagree with. If you sincerely believe an ordinance to be flawed, then you go before a judge who will hear the evidence and make a decision. Frank and Caleb apparently think they are above the law and can do whatever they want. They only have themselves to blame for the fallout.
