Kansas City International Airport gets first nonstop to Europe - Kansas City Business Journal

Kansas City International Airport will get its first nonstop transatlantic flight service this year. "Icelandair has made an excellent choice in connecting Kansas City to their growing network," Kansas City Director of Aviation Pat Klein said in a release.

  1. This is clearly a tourism gamble on Icelandair's part. And/or they're hoping to build their airport as a gateway to northern Europe -- which I think it is somewhat already.

  2. What did they say, more than half the people in Kansas City never use the airport?

  3. Never take it?

I took it Icelandair last July to Reykjavik for a vacation and then continued to Denmark. It did require getting to Chicago first.

Wait, you probably were addressing the basement dwellers that usually comment here.

  12. When Iceland Air found out that KC gets 24 million tourists a year, setting up a KCI connection was a no brainer. The new hotel will be necessary to put up all the Icelanders who will want to visit KC. Our BBQ will taste pretty good compared to the fermented shark meat that they normally eat.

  14. This is some funny shit. There are not 5 people in Killa City that could find Iceland on a map.....and that's with a UMKC professor. Going to Iceland is a lot like driving to Maryville during a snowstorm just takes longer and cost more. The one good thing about Iceland.......No Boons !

  16. Yeah you get off the plane and go to another gate and get on a different plane. You black or something? That's a really dumb question.

  17. I thought we needed a new airport before we could get non stops to Europe. Are they just flying 757s? Those fly in here all the time already. I thought we needed a new airport so the planes would fit.
