KANSAS CITY TOP COP REVEALS 2018 PLAN TO REDUCE CRIME!!! WILL IT WORK???

An effort touting tech, community outreach and social services along with more cash seems to be the focus of this latest effort . .

KCPD CHIEF'S BLOG: Our 2018 goals: decrease violent crime, increase community involvement

Highlight . . .

I am optimistic as Kansas City starts 2018. Slowly this city is starting to realize that the crime in Kansas City needs to be addressed from several different angles, not just through the police and enforcement. Some of the partnerships that have great potential in 2018:

- The Police Foundation of Kansas City, a private/public partnership that is bringing cutting-edge technology to this city to help reduce violent crime.

- Soon there will be social workers at every patrol division. This will be another private/public partnership aimed at increasing the ability of field officers to follow through on issues they find while working in the field.

- The TIPS Hotline, part of the Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission, recently raised the reward money for information on homicides from $2,000 to $5,000.

Closing line . . .

"Twelve short months from now will let us know if the aforementioned direction, cooperation, initiatives, and enforcement activities have reduced crime. The executive staff at KCPD will continue to evaluate, research and implement strategies that work on reducing violent crime so Kansas City is no longer on the ten most-violent cities list. That is just the first big hurdle toward the goal of making Kansas City the safest city in America."

WILL THIS PLAN REDUCE CRIME IN KANSAS CITY???

  2. The only chance for actually reducing crime, violence, and homicides requires cooperation between law enforcement and the most distressed communities.
What are the names of the leaders in the black community and where is a list of the organizations that will be committed to play their appropriate roles in any new effort?
And where is it mentioned that any serious start will require a thorough review of how the many millions are currently being spent on "anti-crime" programs and nonprofits, that performance standards will be established and required to be met, and that lack of performance will result in those resources being re-directed into other activities, including to the KCPD itself.
Anything else will be little more than the sound of one hand clapping.

  3. Anything could work as long as bow tie the clown sLIE stays out of the police depts way and let’s them do their jobs. sLIE has screwed up everything that he has touched. His “personal touch” is killing this city.

  5. Where in the plan does it call for getting rid of Jean Petersucker Baker and replacing her with a good prosecutor. Jean Petersucker Baker is worthless and her inadequate performance contributes to our high crime rate.

  6. How about stop and frisk?

  7. The police need assault rifles. Any situation in which the police pull their weapons needs to end with the killing of a hood rat or hopefully multiple hood rats. This will reduce the likelihood of their futures crimes.

no, officers do not have AR-15's. officers are allowed to carry department approved AR-15's, after weapons inspections and department training, but the officers have to buy the weapons themselves. they are not provided. for that matter, even the sidearms are not provided by the department. officers also do not carry "riot" guns; which are modified shotguns. patrol vehicles are equipped with Remington model 870. just a regular old shotgun

  12. Kansas City's black problem is the issue, stop trying to treat these people with a pat on the ass and start treating them with hard time and shoot to kill when they shoot at police or beat people with hammers. Address the problem head on....it's the blacks in the city.
