GOOD LUCK!!! CLOSER LOOK AT NEW PITCH OWNERS ISN'T ENCOURAGING FOR FANS OF FADING KANSAS CITY NEWSPAPER JOURNALISM AMID ADVERTORIAL GAMBIT!!!

Honestly, this one is just straight up depressing . . . The new amateur crew in charge of The Pitch is already embarrassing themselves as they connect with tech scene sponsored content crews and confirm OUR KICK-ASS TKC BLOG COMMUNITY REPORTING . . .

THE PITCH CAN ONLY PROFIT BY WAY OF CORPORATE SPONSORED CONTENT AND ADVERTORIAL GARBAGE!!!

The rub (ewwww) here is that FEAST already plays this game far more skillfully. Also, let's be honest, The Pitch has tried this tactic and it didn't work - Don't think that we didn't notice a huge full-page advert for years promoting a lame shopping district controlled by a huge law firm and then a subsequent dearth of reporting from the paper on otherwise interesting Eastern Jack antics.

And so . . . The only thing fun about this local media ploy will be watching the new owners have their illusions about "journalism" (lulz) destroyed and then grow frustrated with the money losing albatross tied around their neck. Join the club, bitches.

TKC Free Advice: New owners should fear former Kansas City Star writers who not only are in desperate need of a check but also want to sink every "alternative" media outlet in town in order to fund research into a time machine that can take us all back to the gilded corporate age of newspapers - 1989.

Best of luck . . . Now read the hype and the far more optimistic origin story from a woefully similar local sponsored content outlet . . .

Couple with tech, startup background take a risk as new Pitch owners

Local ownership of The Pitch will preserve the Kansas City alternative news publication's voice, as well as expanding digital content for readers, and promotions and services for advertisers, Stephanie Carey said. "I love the independent voice.

  1. Now THAT is some catty and bitchy KC journalism right there.

    Love it!

  2. Still waiting on that wildman column begging the pitch to ditch their escort and massage ads, even though that's the only thing that really keeps them afloat.

Good luck to you as well wildman! Keep eating the scraps.

  3. Will it live longer than the Star? Sounds like it will try to be attractive to faggots and lesbians like the Pitch did.

  4. Never insult those who try to succeed at something. I give them credit for the risk but I agree that the odds are against them
    Good luck to them

  6. At least they are doing something with their lives. What are you losers doing besides bitching on a blog?

  7. Here is the thing, I respect them for trying but the gal looks like one of those women who wears a vagina costume and a pink cat hat while screaming “not my president” at baby killing rallies. So you can probably assume what kind of content the pitch will have.

Then again, it was never a publication that was center or center right. Geared more towards trannys and lonely gay boys looking up perverted glory hole ads on the backpage.

  13. Why don't people simply wish them well, really

  14. They will rape the legacy of the pitch. That is NOT cool.

  15. I've worked in publishing for 18 years. This won't work. If they want to survive they need to drop the print edition -- or somehow make it amazing and a must-have, which I doubt is possible and charge for it -- and focus exclusively on online content, shrink staff to a handful of people, including ad sales team. That's the ONLY way they can survive.
