TKC QUESTION: KANSAS CITY POLITICOS HATE BUMP STOCKS BUT WILL BAN HELP CURB LOCAL MURDER COUNT???

In the aftermath of the Las Vegas Massacre, the "bump stock" remains the most loathsome gun accessory in the nation and the new target of politicos in Kansas City.

Remember . . . A “bump stock” replaces a rifle’s standard stock, which is the part held against the shoulder. It frees the weapon to slide back and forth rapidly, harnessing the energy from the kickback shooters feel when the weapon fires.

Back in October, KCMO City Council sponsored a resolution calling for a ban on the controversial tech:

"Sending the Council’s thoughts and prayers to the victims of the Las Vegas mass shooting and urging Congress to ban bump stocks and to enact other common sense gun control laws."

And now another local politico has put the bump stock in his sights . . .

KSHB: State Representative Richard Brown, a democrat from Kansas City, drafted a law making it illegal to possess, buy, sell, repair, manufacture or transport bump stocks and trigger cranks in the state.

Fox4: Rep. Brown said banning bump stock devices is a safety issue that people can agree on, regardless of their political affiliations.

There's a press conference on the legislation today at KCPD South Patrol signaling that local law enforcement has at least given this effort tacit approval of the measure.

TKC Reality Check . . .

The legislation has zero to nil chance of passing in the Missouri General Assembly given that Jeff City regularly shoots down KCMO anti-gun legislation AND Missouri's current and increasingly popular Guv made semi-automatic weaponry part of his campaign platform.

Nevertheless, as Kansas City concludes another exceptionally murderous year:

IS A CRACKDOWN AGAINST GUNS THE ONLY STRATEGY KANSAS CITY POLITICOS HAVE FOR CURBING DEADLY VIOLENCE???

This tactic seems either exceptionally fatalistic given that local politicos know their legislation will be killed in the State House OR an extremely cynical ploy to shift blame on rural politicos who don't confront (or care about) the urban core slaughter which plagues Kansas City year after year.

You decide . . .

    2. Bump stocks are just another boogieman and there's actually newer technology that's far more effective at getting nearly automatic speed. And the will to ban bump stocks has already faded, the buying spree is now over and bump stocks would actually make a good stocking stuffer!

  3. I doubt a bump stock was used to commit any of the murders so far in Kansas City.

So Kansas City politicos have failed again.

The answer to your question is, OF COURSE NOT!

Big-Government Nanny-State Liberal Democrats rarely know the facts, but instead serve as reactionary knee-jerkers who think the answer to every problem is higher taxes and more legislation.

Why would banning bump stocks decrease KCMO's record murder count when the facts from KCPD demonstrate that very few of the murders are committed with long guns?

Pandering fools like Sly James, Jolie Justus, and The KC Star Editorial Board are all too happy to give you the false impression that they're doing something to solve the KCMO homicide epidemic, but the fact is their incompetence leaves them impotent.

  6. KC and their Boss Hog political bullshit! KC doesn't even enforce its own gun ordinances, as demonstrated in recent open carry by protesting shitflakes. As has been demonstrated a billion times already, passing more gun laws is useless if you don't enforce the laws already on the books. This is just more vote grabbing libtard fake bullshit.

If you want to make a new law then make one that requires reporting convictions in Missouri to the FBI NICS system before the state ends up looking like the Air Force. Make it a felony for the responsible bureaucrat to fail to enter appropriate information to protect citizens from felons purchasing guns. If the info is not on the FBI system felons get to purchase guns due to dereliction of duty at the local government level.

Second make it a felony for any bureaucrat to fail to prosecute and/or investigate instances of domnestic violence by ANY state or local government employee. KCPD has swept so much of this shit under the carpet allowing violent wacked officers to carry guns. This should have been prohibited under Federal law, but was not because KCPD swept the incidents under the carpet and never charged the offenders. This is corruption at its finest.

Lets spend the next five years cleaning up the crooks in government and leave the God Damn law abiding citizens alone for a while.

  11. Why would we want to curb the local murder count at all? For the most part, we have hood rats killing other hood rats. What is so bad about that?

A recent study confirmed what we already suspected, that poor white men consider attempts at gun control to be attacks on their masculinity. Another study said that 70% of conservatives consider gun ownership an act of patriotism. This is the real problem.

Of course, bump stocks should be banned, but most murders are committed with handguns, so this is mostly a waste of time. No one knows how to prevent homicides.

  13. Considering any half-wit can make a bump stock in his garage, or for that matter, use a belt loop to do the same thing, making them illegal seems, what's the word I'm searching for here? Oh, yeah, irretrievably stupid.

  14. UZI's were taken off the market after the Mc Donalds shooting in Southern California almost 40 years ago. When they counted how many shots the guy fired in 40 minutes it was a holy shit moment. Maybe we need a thousand killed in one setting to reach a climax?

  15. We need reasonable gun control. Most Americans support it. Very hard to believe that people think that everyone needs to be armed to the teeth. You are not allowed to own a rocket launcher. There needs to be some real change to make our streets safer.

  16. @3:19 - Good call. We've had enough massacres this year. This is a shame that we keep letting it happen. The U.S. is better than this.

  17. 3:44, everyone agrees with that. So disarm all the gang bangers whose national gun murder totals by far exceed those in Las Vegas or Texas. When you're done with that, we can talk about my guns.

  18. Are you serious. We need every hood rat to have one of these so they can kill more hood rats.

  19. bLIEron you and your made up statistics are ridiculous, quit blaming everything on white people

According to FBI data, 4,906 black people murdered other blacks in 2010 and 2011. That is 1,460 more black Americans killed by other blacks in two years than were lynched from 1882 to 1968, according to the Tuskegee Institute

  20. Bump Stocks are already illegal under Federal Law. Any firearm capable of firing more than one round with a single depression of the trigger mechanism is classified as an automatic weapon or conversion. It was the Obama administration that opined that bump stocks only made a firearm capable of rapid fire even though the firearm will discharge more than a single round by depressing the trigger mechanism once. This is clearly an opinion and major fuck up that conflicted with existing federal law and it was this incompetence by the Obama crew that effectively legalized automatic fire weapons without a bill passing both houses changing the law. Due to this stupidity it will now take congress to unfuck what a bunch of ignorant libtards fucked up.
