TKC MUST SEE!!! RAMPANT KANSAS CITY RIVER MARKET CRIME KILLS CITY HALL DEVELOPMENT AGENDA!!!

By far, one of the most requested stories forwarded our way over the past few days is a tale of high crime amid a wave of speculative development devised by City Hall and a team of sycophant consultants who spend most of their day writing mean tweets in support of real estate hype.

And so . . .

CHECK THIS TRAGIC STORY OF HIGH CRIME CHASING AWAY DENIZENS NEAR DOWNTOWN KCMO!!!

Here's an EPIC bit of journalism that offers more insight into local life than most local news content this week . . .

Fox4: River Market resident moving out after three vehicles stolen in two months

Deets:

Downtown Kansas City continues to grow, attracting both businesses and people who want to live in an urban setting. With that growth, comes crime, which is driving some people back to the suburbs.

“I am picking up and moving,” said Jesse Clay, who lives near 3rd and Delaware. “I’m loading everything in a U-Haul trailer and I am going to rent a room from a friend of mine.”

Clay has to rent a U-Haul to move, because his pick-up truck was stolen from his apartment’s secured parking lot in the River Market three weeks ago and totaled.

Insult to injury:

"Clay said his situation is so absurd that when he called Wednesday morning to report the third theft, police began investigating him for insurance fraud. But Clay just had liability insurance, so all were total losses."

The teachable moment here is simple and something our blog community has been forced to repeat for years . . .

THE CURRENT CITY HALL DEVELOPMENT AGENDA IS DOOMED TO FAIL IF KANSAS CITY CRIME CONTINUES TO PLAGUE RESIDENTS!!!

This is more than economic theory - Crime killing taxpayer-subsidized development is something that we've seen time and time again on the East side. Violence & theft destroying economic incentives basically explains why KCMO has thrown $100-million down the toilet in the 18th & Vine Jazz District but is still unable to find a sustainable profit model.

Whether it's young people killed on their way home from bars or denizens of trendy urban districts forced to declare defeat and move away in disgust; once again we see a high crime reality check for so many taxpayer subsidized schemes that hinge on luring vulnerable middle-class residents to increasingly dangerous downtown areas. Sadly, this defacto ponzi scheme falls apart when promises of urban glamour give way to nothing but inflated prices and targeting by criminals.

Developing . . .

  1. Also, parking.

You can't build "vibrancy" or whatever the heck without giving people some place to park. Seems simple enough and it's true in every other part of KC but somehow the river market developers think the rules don't apply to them.

    1. The first clue was Populous moving out. If a big company like that doesn't want to stay in a new development than anyone who comes after is basically just eating left overs.

      Delete
    2. Smarter people near the river market understand the threat and take precautions. Street parking is out of the question. You've got to pay a lot more to keep your property safe. It's a hidden cost that nobody tells you about until it's too lave.

      Delete
  2. What about that citizen task force on crime? They got anything for this one? Because if they're really paying attention to what is happening in around the market they would see that the car crime and property crime is just a result of more homeless people camping out near the river and in the woods nearby. The homeless situation that's growing is really the culprit there.

  3. KCPD is unable to “protect and serve” the public because of their incompetence. They view the public as an inconvenience.

    ReplyDelete
  4. In KCMO why is it as "downtown continues to grow and people want to live in an urban setting" you have to expect to become a victim of crime?
Downtown isn't really much of an urban setting unless you're moving to town from Cowpie, Kansas. It's mostly a heavily subsidized movie set and amusement park with retail start-ups that will be lucky to last 18 months, if that.
But there are real much bigger cities across the country that have a much better handle on crime prevention and public safety than KCMO, which regularly has fully one-third the number of murders as New York, which has a population over 17 times the size.
It might be worthwhile for KCMO residents to ask why that is and why what passes for city government doesn't make that the priority it needs to be.
The good news is that there are over 100 other municipalities in the metro, most of which are great places to live, work, enjoy yourself, and send your kids to great schools.
So while Sly and the gang are throwing residents' tax money away on trolleys, hotels, corporate headquarters, and all the rest, residents of other towns are just enjoying living their lives.
    Easy choice.

  5. The river market has been a focal party of Kansas City for more than 100 years. It only too Sly James 6 years to destroy it.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Time to move the homeless out of downtown, there is just not any place for them anymore.

    ReplyDelete

  7. Sly James has destroyed not only the river market, but the entire city. KCPD is doing the best they can with what Sly James has given them or I should say with what Sly James has taken away!

  8. What about the weakness of most hipster pussies? They should at least make an effort to protect themselves but they are mostly a bunch of limp-wristed faggot types.

  9. Some really deep and absolutely fascinating takes here by the best blog denizens. I especially like how 7:09 just laid it out there for us to take in. It has been said that Tony puts troll pieces like this up to keep the aged and infirm engaged in his blog. Most people say that they are the most easily manipulated by crime stories, race stories and Trump. I don't believe it though. Incredible posts by @7:09, 6:02PM & 5:53AM prove that claim to be false. These TKC posters know their stuff! I mean 5:53AM just knocked the hell out that cabal of River Market Developers. I mean that's powerful stuff right there.

  12. Downtown living in Kansas City is not worth the expense and hassle and crime. In other cities the trade off is often worth -- not so in KC.

We're a suburban town. Sure, there have always been people who live in Quality Hill and downtown but this attempt to build downtown KC is ultimately going to fail. Fail, I mean, in terms of the scale they WANT.

Again, the Crossroads will be around and other locations; and there will always be a handful of people who want/willing to live downtown -- just like in the past.

And only an idiot would pay $200,000+ for a 1-bedroom condo that very likely will never sell or you will lose money on than buy a nice house in one of the suburbs of south KC.

Just let KC be KC and not try to make it into something it's not. If you don't like it, then maybe you should move to the coast or Chicago instead of trying to make KC fit your needs and wants and desires

  13. THE RIVER MARKET WAS A ITALIAN RUN DEAL AND FUN PLACE NOW KILLA CITY IS RUINING IT

  14. Let sly and the gang get a hold of it and it's done just like that fuckin ghetto dump KILLA city

  15. Downtown KC is white, elitist privilege at its worst. Gentrification, spending god awful amounts of money (because mom and dad passed along money to them, or are paying their mortgage, or bought it for them) for condos and properties. Specialty stores that serve no one but elitist white dildos who will pay double or triple for a basic commodity if it's marketed as "organic" or was grown 50 miles away.

The irony is of course these same white, privileged affluent dildos preach equality and acceptance and fairness for all, but what they really don't want that. They do MORE DAMAGE than actual racists and the occasional crooked cop who unjustly kills a suspect -- white or black.

  16. Everything is Frosty Downtown! Fox is making shit up! It's the safest place on earth!

  18. I'm with you guys. I'm scared. I mean I'm really scared here! What can I do? I don't want to go outside anymore. Tony keeps telling me it's not safe anymore. You guys keep backing him up on that. What can I do? Why oh why did KC turn into Detroit? It's everyone's fault. Sly, Greitens, the blacks, the browns, the yellows. No place is safe! Not Westport, not the River Market, not Downtown, not the Plaza, not 39th street, not Overlaand Park, noty Independence, not Raytown, not Zona Rosa, not Leawood, not Brookside. I mean just look at what Tony has informed us about in the last two days; Wesport crime, Plaza crime, River Market crime, 39th St crime. I'm old and I scare easily. Why oh why? I mean what is wrong with people/ Don't they read this blog? Before, I went out, I saw lots of people in Westport, the Plaza, the Market, on 39th street? Why are they going there? Don't they know it's not safe? Can one of you big guys with the guns you always talk about..come stand watch at my place. I'm scared!!!!!!!!

    1. This is hilarious because there is really no crime, right?

Satire technique needs work. Reductio ad absurdum won't work here because there really is an obvious crime problem, and our clown of a mayor is transparently incompetent and everyone who isn't his slave knows it.

Anyway, chin up and keep trying. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. 1st 9:13- maybe you should move to Portland or Seattle where you can feel safe with your specialty coffee, skinny jeans and safe places.

  24. All these new apartments in River Market and we still have no police patrolling the area. We pay taxes too and want police assigned to the area for late nights and early mornings. Tired of our taxes used to pay for that east of Troost protection.

    ReplyDelete
  25. 3/4 of the firemen need to be converted to police and sent out on the streets to protect us.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Only downtown proper gets regular patrols, I live in a part of town that has one squad car till 1:00 am in the morning then it leaves for the “downtown” area. There are no police around after that till mid morning, when do most of the crimes In my area occur? When the cops aren’t around, go figure. But thank god for sLIE and his infinite wisdom of knowing what’s best for downtown and nowhere else

    ReplyDelete
  27. The tax revenue from the hundreds of new apartments in the area should easily support 4 or 5 police patrolling the area every night looking for suspicious activity.

    ReplyDelete
  28. If we build it they will come. Then they came and were robbed. They didn't come back. Everything we built fell into disrepair because they left.

KCMO needs to get their head out of the sand and police their city. This lawlessness has been going on for decades. It's about time somebody did something about it. That Sly one needs to wake up and take charge of his people. Everyone knows it's his tribe that is responsible for all of the crime.

If they don't clean it up... white folks like me will just stay in the 'burbs where we don't get killed walking home.

    ReplyDelete
  29. 30 years ago there were little pockets of Kansas City and most of the suburbs where it was pretty safe to live and work. Those days are gone and now the entirety of the Metro is essentially uninhabitable by humans. When everybody who pays taxes moves away, it will devolve into Detroit. It passed the Tipping Point when the city became ran by baboons. The process will only be slowed, it will not be stopped. If you're smart you'll get out now.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hey guys like you...I am also afraid. Like you, I don't really get out much. Like you, I overreact to everything. Did you know a car got broke into in Prairie Village! OMG why isn't this stuff being reported! Hey did you know a business got broke into in Leawood? Where's the national guard? 200 years ago this shit want happening? Can you guys reassure me that since I don't go out, it's simply not safe to go out? I also hear people are being murdered in every City in America. How come we don't hear this anywhere. I need you guys. Please hold me.

    2. Yeah, it's not the worst effort but again it's basically ineffective as satire. By pretending that there's no crime problem worth worrying about and not addressing the well-known indifference of Mayor Bullhorn to anything but his next meal, the humor falls flat.

      Try harder.

  31. The “lawlessness” has occurred under slie’s Watch, I have lived here for fifty years and have never seen it this bad. The hipster and millinial’s are getting a taste of what the rest of the city has felt for years now. This is their wake up call. This city drew these young folks in with promises they can’t keep. I actually feel, sorry for them.

  41. Back in the good old days areas were kept safe by the locals. Italians kept the peace in River Market, Northeast and North of the river. Polocks, Lithuanians and other Slavic people kept KCK on the straight and narrow. Blacks controlled their neighborhoods in the same ways, with respect for elders, religion and shared work. Their offspring kept the suburbs civilized with their earned incomes and strong upbringing.

Multiculturalism is on its way or already has destroyed much of this. Lack of jobs, family unity and political infighting are crumbling the order of this once great country.

Rodney King said it best,"Why can't we all just get along ?"
