KICK-ASS KANSAS CITY INSIDERS CELEBRATE A DEPUTY CHIEF RETIREMENT SPREE AMID THE ONGOING KCPD TOP COP TRANSITION!!!

Here's the word that's much spicier and with more perspective than just a newsletter listing with just a few minor edits to keep things interesting and legal . . .

Hey TKC, check out the three retirements of KCPD Deputy Chiefs.

The lady that would be chief was promoted by Fmr. Chief Corwin and the other two are products of Chief Forté. Very interesting timing of their departures.

Cool story about one of the current retirees . . .

Current Chief Rick Smith was a Major at Center Zone and formerly a subordinate of the retiring DC in question. Chief Smith, was looking out for his troops at the time and was serving as a Maj. when he asked the DC about a matter that may have ended in unnecessary discipline for the officers (bad Commanders often let issues drag on to put stress on the divisions).

When asked by Maj. Smith about the status of the issue, the DC told his subordinate, then Major Rick Smith, that such information was above his (Maj. Smith's) pay grade.

One of the first things Chief Smith did when he took office was to call in the DC (now SMITH's subordinate) and ask him if the issue involving the Center Zone Cops was still above his pay grade! Needless to say, Smith had a few conversations with the DC before his departure. . .

  2. The KCPD had been a mess for years. Whether he will change things or maintain the status quo remains to be seen.

  3. This should have been done 10 years ago and we would not have lost so many good police officers to bad management.
