TKC EXCLUSIVE: BURNS & MAC IS BACK IN COMPETITION FOR NEW AIRPORT WORK BUT FINANCING WILL HAVE TO BE DIFFERENT AND KC TAXPAYERS ARE NOW ON THE HOOK!!!

Yeah, yeah, we got your comments and the ruckus over the MBE/WBE freebies is a nice cover story as our KICK-ASS TKC INSIDERS REVEAL THAT'S JUST A PLOY TO MISDIRECT PLEBS away from more serious questions about how KCMO is going to pay for this thing.

Here's a comment from Councilman Lucas on the topic:

"A supermajority of Council thought we have more work to do to ensure the best project and value for the regional flying public. We remain committed to an outstanding project on schedule. We'll accomplish that goal. #BetterKCI #KCI"

There is ongoing debate about the implications of this news but embattled private activity bonds aren't going to work and YET ANOTHER new airport campaign threatens the local electorate.

Biz Journal: Councilman Lee Barnes, Jr., who initially moved for immediate adoption on his resolution, agreed to amend it such that it will be discussed in committee. Mayor Sly James said he had not yet decided which committee to assign the resolution to. But Councilwoman Heather Hall suggested it be the Committee of the Whole in order to avoid the same type of transparency concerns that arose after just two members of the City Council — Jermaine Reed and Jolie Justus — were named to the six-person selection committee that recommended Edgemoor's selection.

KCUR: Councilman Quinton Lucas says he also had issues with a reimbursement agreement, which Lucas says had the city on the hook for up to $30 million in the event that the project was terminated early.

    1. This is Sly's Waterloo.

The new airport is going to be a mess and the plan he devised, on the fly (pardon the pun) will not pass the smell test of any responsible legislator.

He is too accustomed to getting his way in back room deals, a billion dollar project will not stand up to his lack luster deal making ability.

    2. I voted for the airport. Already having regrets about it.

35% minority hiring is a joke. Why don't we pick the best contractor for the job? This is going to be a debacle. Kansas City can screw up anything.

  2. Going to be hard for Mayor Sylvester to take Rev Rep Cleaver's position if he can't carry water?

  3. What a corrupt fucking shit hole. Killa City pulls a turd from it's ass, AGAIN.

  4. "The council voted 9-4 against accepting the memo. Unhappiness with a proposed community benefits package seemed to have been the tipping point for the council.

"The package consists of about $10 million in cash and in-kind contributions to community groups, transportation to and from the site, licensed child care and on-site health care for workers, and low interest loans to provide working capital for minority and women-owned firms."

  5. You think anybody cares about the 6:11?

    It's the financing. Don't be a FOOL!

  6. This is all a scam.

Edgemoor never had a shot and the minority package was a phony false flag.

It's all about getting burns & mcdonnell the money.

  7. Aecom will team up with Burns & McDonnell to get the job. Sly will get his $30,000 under the table payoff and all will be well.

  8. ^^^ $30K, that's cheap. The man is going to get a Congressional seat and that is worth MILLIONS.

  9. Better title: Sly & Co. crash and burn.

    ReplyDelete
  10. 4d chess for Sly?

That is more like it, no way he doesn't come out of this ahead. Burns & McDonnell will likely win the contract now and KC voters will already relent. A bankruptcy for KC is in the future for sure now. Such a shame, a better plan for a new airport was possible but the mayor and his consultants just wanted to win. Not to engage voters.

  12. Glad to hear the reassurance from Councilman Lucas. We cannot afford to lose the momentum Kansas City has built. A new airport is a must for KC and the best way to push our city forward.

  13. ^^^ Shut it. That's just plain old sly propaganda.

Contact B&M tomorrow, then get the bulldozers rolling, Roe to Metcalf, 95th to 135th, flatten all that worthless shit out and start building the Airport you deserve!

ONLY THIS TIME YOU PAY FOR THE DAMN THING YOURSELVES!

  16. Idiot^^^ Worthless shit that makes KCMO. Without JOCO the KCMO would be dead, dead, dead.

  20. Proving once again that KCMO is a World Class city.
    Third World!
Why would any reputable business even try to work with these amateur clowns?
Meanwhile, anyone keeping track of expenditures and "progress" from the $800 million bond issue?
How about the millions in public money for the "Prospect Corridor Project?
Money is just pouring out the door.
    The city that never sleeps!
    Hahahahahaa!!!

  21. despite the messiness, isn't the city council actually trying to do the right thing?

    ReplyDelete
  22. ^^^^ for who???

    ReplyDelete
  23. Absolutely the council is trying to clean up this debacle. It's Sly who screwed up this deal. The Council is just trying to sort this mess out and make sure KC doesn't get stuck with the bill.

  24. Times change 7:34.

  25. A GAME WITHIN A GAME WITHIN A SCHEME

James, Schulte, Justus, and the tag-a-longs were working way in advance to give this to their paymasters Burns and McDonnell. That has never changed.

When they got incredibly sloppy and arrogant with their plan, they were forced to select a bid other than Burns and McDonnell. Did they give it to AECOM, the world leader in exactly this type of project? No, they did not, because Justus and Schulte purposely steered the selection committee to a company without a deep background in aviation terminal design/construction. Remember that the selection committee violated their own protocol and guidelines, and never could explain how they selected Edgemoor.

Now, the rest of the Council clearly understands that James/Schulte/Justus are continuing to collude to further their own interests. Their plan includes Justus assuming the Mayor's office upon James' departure. And yes, they will make another attempt to gift this billion-dollar (+) terminal project to Burns and McDonnell.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Do we remember who built liberty memorial and Union station? My bet is the folks from Clarkson, JE Dunn, and Burns and Mac, are in full control of this project. They may also be supporting some political action next fall.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Didn’t we vote for an airport that wouldn’t cost taxpayers a dime? So if we switch to another company they have to stick to what we voted for right? I know this seems stupid to think we weren’t going to pay but I’m just wondering if we get to vote again because the rules changed???

    ReplyDelete

  28. I love to read the comments...so entertaining...10:31 be soooo rite!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Not a surprise, Burns & Mac will probably end up with the contract as planned.

    ReplyDelete
  30. This will be a layup for Burns & Mac. They get the airport project, Edgemoor will sue the city and the taxpayers will foot the bill in the upcoming litigation/settlement with Edgemoor. So yes KC you will be paying for the new terminal in some capacity as the pawn(Edgemoor) will receive Million$ for this fiasco. I don't care, I live in JOCO. Hope everyone learned their lesson and will not send the Silverback to DC when Carwash Cleaver hangs it up.

    ReplyDelete
  31. So this was the back door deal after Edgemoor was awarded the contract.
Sly and the gang decided to wait until after the vote and then push Edgemmoor out and bring in Burns and Mac. This is a pay for play scheme. Just have Sly and Justus vote against it when they know they have the votes to pass it anyway. It's corruption at it's finest.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Why in the world is anyone surprised at this? The new airport initiative was shoved down our throats (as was that worthless streetcar) and I'm guessing most of the fools who were duped, arm-twisted, begged, etc. into voting for this mess will NEVER use the airport. Dishonesty and shenanigans as usual at City Hall. Even those council members who try to do the right thing have got to be disheartened at this latest development. Just wait KC taxpayers, we'll get screwed on this somehow and very likely end up with a piece of crap for an airport. Merry Christmas, Kansas City!

    ReplyDelete
  33. When you look up the Peter Principle in the dictionary there should be a picture of the Kansas City city council.

    ReplyDelete
  34. When you try and rush down the wrong path, this is what happens, especially when people are simply out of their depth. Who now has high confidence in a near term superb result with what is underway. It is unfair to the vendors, unfair to the taxpayers, unfair to the community.

And Troy doesn't want any questions asked, please.
