TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY HOMELESS SHELTERS AT CAPACITY: TIME TO OPEN UP THE LIBRARY 24-HOURS TO COPE WITH WINTER CHILL WARNING???

It's standing room only at all of the Kansas City homeless shelters near Downtown as desperate people attempt escape extremely low temperatures that linger through the metro.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY HOMELESS SHELTERS ARE AT THE BREAKING POINT AND THERE'S NOT ENOUGH SPACE FOR THE MASSIVE POPULATION OF PEOPLE WHO MUST ESCAPE THE COLD IN THE COMING DAYS!!!

More to the point . . .

TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY UNDERESTIMATING THE RISING HOMELESS POPULATION HAS PUT LIVES IN DANGER AS LOCAL AGENCIES STRUGGLE TO FIND RESOURCES AND SPACE FOR THE DESTITUTE WHO WILL DIE IF THEY STAY OUTSIDE!!!

And here's a look at the plan that's under consideration . . .

TOP ECHELON KANSAS CITY INSIDERS CONSIDER ASKING THE CENTRAL KANSAS CITY PUBLIC LIBRARY TO STAY OPEN ALL NIGHT TO HOUSE THEIR TYPICAL HOMELESS CLIENTELE AMID THIS WINTER CHILL CRISIS!!!

Moving these folks from library to shelter is a fools errand given the extreme crunch on space and the harm that could befall these people along the journey.

For those facing the harsh Winter weather with scarce resources and few options, this is ABSOLUTELY an emergency.

More to the point, this bum's rush of Downtown Kansas City homeless offers an important reality check against luxury living space life constantly promoted by politicos and speculators.

Turns out there's also a rising influx of desperate hobos Downtown greater than or equal to the number of upwardly mobile creative-class denizens City Hall has been struggling to attract.

  1. Absolutely let them stay overnight. It's not like they're going to get in the way of anyone doing a term paper or real research.

The library is now a de facto homeless shelter anyway.

Welcome to the real KC economy.

    2. Here's what's the messed up part about this, TKC is talking about it but I haven't seen my mayor say jack. I'm sure he's some place nice with a warm scotch while residents in his city could freeze to death.

      Great leadership Sly.

I guess you only come running when the your dirt bag friends at the law firms call for you to dance a little bit and put on a show.

  8. Glad Frank White isn’t there.
Sure sounds like he came within a day of moving his family to a homeless place.
I sure wish we could pay poor Frank more money in addition to his big fat pension so he could afford a bigger lifestyle.
He is such a thrill to be around- I am sure the Royals could have used him to make better decisions... look at all the great decisions and unity he has brought to the jail.
Frank has talent on loan from God. Too bad he used it all when he played 2nd base.

  9. Buy them all one way bus tickets to somewhere warm. California is a big state, I'll bet it has more than enough room for all our bums.

    ReplyDelete
  10. But sLIE said he eliminated homelessness!

  11. Yes, by all means, let's take that nice new library and make it stink of bum, piss, and puke, like the old one did. What a fucking city.

  12. sad in so many ways.

  13. There is a problem with tis idea that has not been discussed yet.

The system of shelters in the City are not yet full.
Having said that, there is a problem, in that the Shelters have RULES that the homeless much follow in order to stay in them. They do not allow smoking (Library Toilets reek of smoke), you cannot drink in the Shelters, violence is not permitted, and so forth.
As unchristian as it sounds, these homeless are those not willing to obey the Shelters "rules", and yet for some reason have opted not to join the southern migration that occurs each Autumn.

If they are unwilling to accept the help already provided for them, why are we obligated to provide a totally different "rule-free" environment?

    ReplyDelete
  14. ^^^^ that sounds like the black community in killa city!

    ReplyDelete
  15. HELL NO! Shelters have room for sober guests. Put them in jail. Shoot the criminals to make room.

    ReplyDelete
  16. There are better places than the library (church recreation halls come to mind), but until a solution is found, absolutely no one should be left out in this dangerous freeze, and that includes pets!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Let the stay at the airport

    ReplyDelete
  18. Use the library as a homeless shelter? HELL to the NO. It is NOT a social service facility.

  19. KCMO CARES ?

The wealthy Baltimore-based real estate development corporation, The Cordish Company, were frequent and generous donors to Mayor Sylvester James.

As a direct result, approximately $15M from the taxpayer-funded city budget, gets redirected every year to subsidize the failed projections made by Cordish. James and Schulte then further rewarded these incompetents with massive subsidies for their "luxury" Light towers.

Political sycophants like Kansas "consultant" Jon Stephens, who use to work for Cordish, are routinely invited onto programs like Ruckus to spew his James/Schulte propaganda for which he is paid.

Cordish, Sylvester James, Troy Schulte, Stephens, many on the Council, many in local media, most corporations, etc.
So what do all these people/companies have in common?
They operate under the principle "Get as much as you can for yourself, regardless of others."

I'm sure if you ask them whether they have personal faith-based rules under which they live their lives, they would answer in the affirmative, but their actions say otherwise.

    John 3:17-18
But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

  20. 18th and vine has lots of space.

    ReplyDelete
  21. KCMO city hall has 29 floors of well-heated space.
Of course, after it warmed up outside you'd have to try to tell the difference between the homeless and the people who usually "work" there and that could be pretty tough.
But might even result in better services!

  22. Turns out there's also a rising influx of desperate hobos Downtown greater than or equal to the number of upwardly mobile creative-class denizens City Hall has been struggling to attract.

    Proof of that statement?

You've tried the victims & found them guilty.

Some of said that the homeless are mentally ill.

    So, what's your point?

You could let them stay in the library, or you have mega-churches, open some of these up for the homeless.

But, only if you care, but I don't think you do.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'd like to see how some of you would be if your furnace goes out tonight and you can't have anything done until Tuesday. Of course your pipes would freeze etc.

  27. 4:07, what nonsense. (1) Nobody has found the bums (I reserve the term homeless for those who are involuntarily so) guilty of anything besides being bums. They're welcome to that lifestyle, but I don't have to support it. (2) So what? So the mentally ill bums are likely to cause harm to people and damage to structures, such as the Central Library building. Duh. (3) I see next week's high temperatures in your town will be below 20 degrees. How many homeless will you be putting up? None, I suspect. You must not care.

  28. Byron is a fucking bum his self . Plenty of beds for homeless that stay sober, plenty of church help for truly homeless. Byron is a fucking crybaby that wasted his and his wife's life.

  36. Survival of the fittest. Not a bad thing to lose a few people in this world. Those who are homeless made a choice.

Are you volunteering your extended family to go first?

Do you actually believe children choose to be homeless?
