TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! FINANCE COMMITTEE SHUTS DOWN COUNCIL ORDINANCE FOR DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY HOTEL FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY!!!

A couple of other local media outlets tout today's vote on the Downtown Convention Hotel as a win despite the implication of far less municipal oversight and financial accountability for developers.

Today's City Council aftermath . . .

The Finance Committee voted unanimously against an ordinance hoping to provide answers regarding the complicated structure of a City Hall deal to fund the Mike Burke Hotel with $35-MILLION in cash & $7-Million worth of donated land.

Even worse, there were legal threats against the ordinance in order to clear the way for more City Hall secrecy.

Bottom line . . .

CITY HALL IS GIVING AWAY $42-MILLION BUCKS WITH TERMS THAT ARE COMPLETELY UNDISCLOSED TO THE VOTING PUBLIC!!!

This may or may not be a big deal considering that KCMO voters were denied any input into this decision after a voter petitions and signatures were rejected.

And so, a series of drawings backed by closed-door meetings is all that is required for City Hall to "invest" or give away MILLIONS without so much as a peep from any media outlet in Kansas City.

Developing . . .

    1. City legal determined that the ordinance might not be lawful because it would undo elements of a master financing agreement a previous City Council approved for the project in 2015.

Remember that was the ordinance passed on the last week many former council members termed out as their big F-U to Kansas City.

So thank Ed Ford and Cindy Circo for this one.
