Cocktails & Conversation: Jeneé Osterheldt

Join us for a new series, Cocktails & Conversation at P.S. Speakeasy!

Hear from notable Kansas City business men and women telling the story of their path to success, over fresh cocktails, under ground, under the radar and off the cuff.

Your ticket includes admission and one complimentary house brand drink.

On January 17, 2018, P.S. Welcomes Jeneé Osterheldt, The Kansas City Star's Culture Columnist and 2017 Harvard Nieman Fellow.

Jeneé Osterheldt was named a diversity advocate by the NAACP of Olathe and we have seen her work appear in Essence, Rolling Out, KicksOnFire.com and most recently, Very Smart Brothas. She joined the Kansas City Star in 2001 as an intern covering pop culture and hip-hop before moving on to intern for The Contra Costa Times in California and The Pioneer Press in Minnesota. She returned to the Star in 2002 as a music critic and nightlife columnist.

She transitioned into a lifestyle colomnist and spent her fellowship year at Harvard exploring the role of pop culture and the arts in shaping identity and social justice movements. Her beat covered everything from Rachel Dolezal to the unapologetic blackness of Beyoncé's Formation.

She recently returned to The Star as a culture columnist, where her columns speak truth to power. She concentrates on identity through the lens of pop culture, politics and the arts. She's taken on Trump, sexism and is unafraid to write about controversial topics. For her, being a journalist is not simply a job or a career. It is a responsibility.

  1. Hoopz has been thankfully silent for a while. Maybe we have been cured of racism here and it’s time for the stupid bitch to move on.

  2. Oh my, something to live for.

  3. What’s it like to hate half of your self because your half black and half white? Her poor white mother must be beside herself. It would be interesting to record this so called “event” to see how much hate she spews against whites, because, you know, “For her, being a journalist is not simply a job or a career. It is a responsibility.”

  4. Those clothes, Really? She would do better to keep her big mouth shut, I really do think she has mental issues.

  6. She hit the trifecta of employment, woman, mental disease and half black. Cha Ching!!!

  7. I thought everything had been resolved with the Starbucks "conversation about race."

    ReplyDelete
  8. She needs to host it at the 6901 club on prospect, anf she's been here since 2002,yeesh doing what writing tabloids,

  9. Whenever someone uses the word "conversation" what follows will be anything but.

  10. This is a joke, right?

  11. 8:48--And Hoopzzy Doopzyy is just lookin' for a cock any cock.

  12. She has hated white people ever since she let a white guy fuck her up the ass.

    ReplyDelete
  13. If you'd go for the cocktails and this "event" starts at 7:00pm, I'd plan to start drinking about 9:00AM.
Anything to deaden the pain of such a ridiculous joke.

  14. Maybe we can convince Big Sonia to show up with her Leopard-print sofa !

  15. I think the reason Hoopz is such an angry bitch is she has never been properly fucked. She needs a good hard horsefucking and that might improve her disposition.

  16. "her columns speak truth to power."

Where is the dumb ass who made that quote? Nice display of ignorance on the matter if you ask me.

    1. That woefully worn out "speak truth to power" cliche is farcical in too many instances of its declaration.

"Truth" for the race-baiter, social justice warrior, identity politics monger, and just fill-in-the-blank of trended topics outrage, IS NOT ONLY SUBJECTIVE, BUT TWISTED TOWARDS A PREDJUDICED THEME so often.

Yeah, sure, keep on with the Black Lives Matter and such, while ChiRaq, IL--BuryItMore, MD--Killa City, MO are showing how, apparently, many black lives ARE NOT mattering to blacks.

  17. As much as I disagree with her writing I can't help but admire the courage it takes to get up in front of people and spew a bunch of shit.

I don't think I could take the critics.

    ReplyDelete
  18. 10:23 a.m. recommends a good old fashioned sexual assault and beatdown for Ms. Osterheldt? Gag. Are you volunteering to be the attacker?

Quite frankly, I'm surprised she returned to KCMO, the most racist city in modern memory.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I can't even find my level of interest in this. Oh, wait...nope that was only a speck of dust. Why would anyone even think this would be worthwhile?

  20. REVISIONIST HISTORY BY A PSEUDO-JOURNALIST

"She transitioned into a lifestyle colomnist and spent her fellowship year at Harvard exploring the role of pop culture and the arts in shaping identity and social justice movements."

The quote above is a blatant LIE.
[Please note that she also misspelled the word "colomnist" (sp)]

What did she spend approximately one year of self-study at Harvard for? Let's see what her own KC Star reported.

    ----
As a fellow, Osterheldt plans to study “theories of discrimination and their application to storytelling on diverse subjects. Her research will include black and women’s studies, as well as the history of feminism.”

  22. How long ago was that picture of Jenee taken?
Had to be pre-Harvard, because it was before she had her skin darkened in order to get in.
Notice that she's letting it go back to the lighter tone now, but the wrinkle are a lot deeper and show up a lot more.

Hope she can find an ethnicity she's comfortable with at some future date.
