Jury Rules Against Leawood Family Whose Home Was Raided In Bungled Marijuana Search

A Leawood family whose home was raided more than five years ago by Johnson County sheriff's deputies in a fruitless search for a marijuana growing operation lost its lawsuit alleging the deputies violated their Fourth Amendment rights. A federal jury on Tuesday found in favor of the defendants and against Robert and Adlynn Harte, both retired CIA employees, and their two young children.

  4. I thought their 7 Million lawsuit was crazy, but hey this happend in Leawood, so the mentality there is 7 figures, so I get that, what I dont get is why you would have to grow tomotoes in your basement if you live in Leawood! What - did Price Chopper raise the price on their produce again? Rich people are the cheapest fucks on the planet....I guess thats why the are rich lol - they should just try and live a little, ya cant take it with ya when your turn for a dirt nap comes along, and we all will get our turn. They should just not be snobby and greedy, reminds me of millenials lol

  5. This really surprises me. But then maybe some evidence was presented in court the rest of us didn't see but the jury did.

  6. If you've read the history on this case, it's quite clear that this couple's property and legal rights were trampled by over-zealous Rambo law enforcement agents. And I'm a very pro-law enforcement citizen.

    Justice was not done here.

  7. I once worked a burglary case involving a search warrant where and idiot Captian placed a man under arrest based on a commercial field test rather than waiting for a real forensic lab to actually conduct a scientific examination. He was even advised not to arrest anyone by a narcotics detective who happened to be playing duty dick that night. When the lab results came back it was the same shit - the field test was wrong. The arrested guy spent several days in jail. After the the case was settled policy was changed so that no one charged anyone with a drug violation solely based on a field test. The administrative district judge directed that judges not issue search warrants based solely on field test results. There was plenty of time to get legitimate lab results in this Leawood case - especially since they were supposedly growing and cultivating marijuana. I know there are opinions, but if my kids were placed face down on the floor at gun point over a cluster-fuck like this I'd hunt the cops down and off their asses myself. These guys were fucking inexperienced cowboys. Its a shame they didn't loose thier nads just for being fucking morons. How fucking stupid to terrorize a law abiding family because you let your damn hoit dog cop tunnel vision cancel out your common sense.

  8. Too bad they overreached. A couple 100k ok, but 7 million makes them look greedy.

  9. the Joco Sheriffs office really fucked this one up and because of the BS technicality of the law they got away with it, for now. Karma is a bitch and everyone who was involved will someday pay for it, one way or another.

  10. The drug war is losing the war of public opinion. Time for cops to go after those who rob and steal and let the stoners live in peace.
