Kansas City Passenger Rail In Danger???

After a recent derailment, here's a look at saftey standards lacking locally . . .

KC passenger trains lack same safety measure as train in fatal Washington derailment

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Investigators say a train that derailed in Washington this week had not yet implemented positive train control, or PTC, a safety technology designed to prevent accidents. 41 Action News learned from a Federal Railway Administration report that passenger trains traveling in and out of Kansas City also have not completed installation of the technology.

It was going too fast.

Probably the "Engineer" was relying on the multi-million dollar "Automatic Braking Technology" (maybe streaming something on his Smart Phone?) to control the train's speed.

Shame that part of the System hadn't been turned on yet.
