Kevin Mahogany, Internationally Known Jazz Vocalist From Kansas City, Dies At 59
Kevin Mahogany, the versatile and velvet-voiced vocalist who became one of the Kansas City jazz scene's more well-known exports, died Sunday. He was 59. Mahogany had been living in Miami, but moved back to Kansas City in August after the sudden death of his wife, Allene Matthews Mahogany, over the summer, says Mahogany's sister, Carmen Julious.

A Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the December 4 homicide that claimed the life of Phillip Degnan. Degnan was shot and killed outside of the Benton Market in the 1800 block of Benton. Court records say Victor D. Kelley, 62, was shown on store surveillance video at the time of the shooting.
