KANSAS CITY NELSON-ATKINS MUSEUM OF ART B-DAY QUESTION: HAS HIGH CRIME, CULTURE WAR AND BAD CHOICES DESTROYED THIS INSTITUTION???

Final note for posting today and a tribute to one of Kansas City's most iconic spaces . . .

Nelson-Atkins tweeted: Today is our 84th birthday! The museum opened December 11, 1933 . . . The estates of William Rockhill Nelson & Mary McAfee Atkins specified the creation of an arts hub in Kansas City.

For many denizens of the local arts scene, this place is the pinnacle of local culture and class . . . However, in the era of Prez Trump, the Internets put everything up for debate.

Long, long ago the shuttlecocks earned just a bit of push back before the MSM pretty much demanded public appreciation of the installations.

However, the artistic merits of Bloch building have been openly debated and isn't quite as beloved as the rest of the campus.

Either way, the place continues to move forward despite constant critics, rising crime in the surrounding neighborhood and the overall decline of public appreciation for nearly everything outside of their mobile phones.

Developing . . .

  1. Not enough Trump art, hot wings and boob pictures to attract a crowd.

    That's their problem!

    1. One of the best things about KC without a doubt. The Museum is a REAL destination for tourists and a beloved local landmark. There may be a few things that some don't like but overall this is one of the best things to see in our city. Hands down.

    No, shithead. It hasn't.

In the future, if there are any other questions we can answer, fuck off.

  6. People are always caterwauling that we need the trolley, etc. to make KC a world-class city. The Nelson-Atkins is one thing that has made KC a world-class City for decades. I’ve never heard about crime there. I’m sure their private security helps a lot in that regard.

  7. Everyone with any brains knows the Nelson is a world class facility. The majority of trash on this blog however never leave their lonely hovels. They have no idea about the Nelson because they don't get out, and as far as I know, Fox news has never ran a story about it. They are like mushrooms. Kept in the dark, and fed shit all day. Tony is an enabler to their warped views. The city is better with them inside and cowering in their boots about crime.

    1. 721, I’m not saying this to pick a fight. It’s actually a compliment. You make some good arguments in your posts, and if you would make them without the name calling and trash talk they would be even stronger. Just sayin.
