KANSAS CITY MOVIE CRITICS CELEBRATE 'GET OUT' HORROR FLICK!!!
Kansas City cinema culture starts the news cycle this week as a prestigious movie tradition champions continued culture war debate.
Take a look:
‘GET OUT’ WINS THREE AWARDS, INCLUDING BEST PICTURE, FROM KANSAS CITY FILM CRITICS
"Kansas City, MO – Writer-director Jordan Peele and his horror/social satire “Get Out” won three awards, including Best Picture, in the Kansas City Film Critics Circle’s 52nd annual James Loutzenhiser Awards. Founded in 1966, the KCFCC is the second oldest critics group in the country. In addition to Best Picture, “Get Out” won the Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror Award, and Peele won for Best Original Screenplay."
Just checked out this movie over the weekend and it's fun and kind of a media litmus test to see gauge the racism of viewers. Citizen Kane it's not, but more than adequate for date night at home and to reference in uncomfortable conversations with co-workers, friends & family. The movie shines in it's minor details and subtle moments of commentary while lacking a groundbreaking theme redeeming cultural statement.
For early morning readers looking to break the tyranny of Christmas music and holiday fare, it's here's a nice guide to the movie without major spoilers:
