KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY MAGIC BOW TIE MONDAY NIGHT BOOK DEBUT!!!

We conclude Sunday night posting with story time and a bit of a reminder for avid Kansas City readers . . .

TOMORROW NIGHT MAYOR SLY DEBUTS HIS NEW BOOK IN AN ATTEMPT TO BUILD A LOCAL LITERARY LEGACY!!!

To be fair, let's consider both sides . . .

Yes, this is just another feeble attempt to brand the Mayor as a caring, kind politico who puts youngsters first and foremost while the reality is that his development agenda at the behest of political cronies has actively worked to siphon tax revenue away from schools, libraries and neighborhoods.

However . . . The event seems to be the culmination of the Mayor's "Turn The Page" program which championed KCMO literacy and helped to provide a groundbreaking after school reading program, books and tutoring for some of the best and brightest local students.

We talked about this event last month but now there's a bit more info on the upcoming party . . . Checkit:

Mayor Sly and the Magic Bow Tie

Kansas City Mayor Sly James will leave a literary as well as a political legacy. Daughter Aja James has seen to that, making her dad the star of a new children’s picture book, Mayor Sly and the Magic Bow Tie, highlighting the history of their hometown. Through the magic of his trademark bow tie, the mayor takes young readers back through time for a tour of his favorite locations and landmarks and introduces many of the historical figures who’ve left their imprint.

Launching the book – illustrated by Rob Peters – Sly and Aja James join co-author Audrey Masoner in a discussion of the unique project.

The program begins with a 6:30 p.m. performance by the Millennium String Quartet, featuring members of the Kansas City Symphony. They will play KC-themed selections, culminating with an original arrangement of Goin’ to Kansas City.

  1. Reading programs are great but properly funding schools and libraries is much more important and more cost effective.

  4. PURE SCHLOCK PR!

Just ask yourself what type of response would be forthcoming if Gov. Greitens, Gov. Brownback, or President Trump's child had created a glowing story about their wonderful father.

If the media would condemn the effort as a publicity stunt, then why is this any different? And if it is being treated differently, then isn't that confirmation that the media is in fact a biased liberal-promoting propaganda machine?

  5. sLIE the tyrant says you better like his book or else! If you dont praise him he will pout again and waste more money on another completely worthless project we don’t need.

I wonder how much taxpayer dollars went into his excellency’s birthday party?

  6. Ask Mr. Kemper how much money Killa City TIF's deprive the libraries of. Libraries are the principal resource for literacy.

How many murders have their been since Sly took office?
Have there been a thousand since 2011?
Sly says nothing can be done about the murders. This is code for: He is not interested in doing anything and he could care less.

  7. Sly James needs to get rid of that horrible excuse for a beard. And also get rid of the bow tie. He's decent looking without trying to look like a circus clown.

  8. It’s magic. A turd wearing a bow tie.
