JACKSON COUNTY JAIL FIGHT CONTINUES: EXEC FRANK WHITE LOOTS BUDGET TO FIND CASH TO PAY GUARDS $15-AN-HOUR!!!

Here's the latest chapter in a struggle that has voters forgetting about baseball glory days and worrying more about local crime, punishment and government stability . . .

Examiner: Where’s the money for the jail?

Money line . . .

"It appears, Legislative Auditor Crissy Wooderson said, that White’s office has found money sources that include $450,000 from money for outside social service agencies and a larger-than-legally-allowed share from the county’s Combat tax for anti-drug and anti-violence efforts."

  1. But we can build a new airport, hotel and expand a street toy train.

  2. Airport, hotel, and train are city, not county.

  3. Where do we keep city prisoners?

  4. I hope the Legislators are going through that budget with a fine-toothed comb. Cut Frank's useless staff!!!! Eliminate the chief of staff position completely. Get rid of that piss-poor excuse of a PR department. Taxpayers don't need to be paying for a Frank White fan club posting his damn picture all over. Make Frank earn his check by doing the work himself. It's time he stopped being a "celebrity" county executive and started earning his check by doing the work.

  5. Typical News reporting by a TV Station locate in another State, if the guy was attacked at a bus stop on North Oak Trafficway, he was in Kansas City, MO., not in North Kansas City.

Learn a bit of local geography, dumbass, accuracy is supposed to be part of your job.

  6. The Legislators would be doing Frank White a favor if they chopped Caleb Clifford's and Angie Jeffries's useless asses out of the budget. Frank could not have picked two worse people to listen to.

  7. Is one of the "outside social service agencies" that got its funding from Jackson County cut Frank White's goddamn church? No church should be getting a dime of county taxpayer money, but especially not the church the county executive goes to.

  8. Shocking news there, that the COMBAT cookie jar was raided to pay for stuff the anti-drug tax isn't supposed to be used for. That's never happened before, right?

  9. $15 per hour plus whatever they make smuggling drugs and cell phones into the jail

    ReplyDelete
  10. Many at the county don’t make 15 an hour but we’re going to raise it for the most incompetent department.

  11. The legislature just ok'd a $4-million dollar contract to work on the Rock Island road/trail/whatever the heck it is... So there's money for that eh?

  12. 8:42 +++++ The guards over at that jail are worse than the criminals.

  13. The $4 million for Rock Island was a federal grant.

  14. @6:43 They'd be doing all of Jackson County a favor if they got rid of those two.

  15. What fantastic county leadership we have. We spend millions fighting drugs, pass Combat tax over and over and the fucking geniuses at Jackson County forgot to fund the jail? Here go those fucking property taxes again.

  16. On Jan.1, 2007, the Jackson County Jail was in good repair, under capacity, with guards that were well paid and well trained. It also had the largest in-patient Mental Health treatment unit in western Missouri.

That was the day that Katheryn Shields left office after 12 years as County Executive.

Probably just a coincidence that stuff has changed?

  17. Tony we love you but it’s Officers, not guards. Guards is a slur in the Corrections profession.

  18. Shut up Phil
