Will Sysco Strike Hurt Horrible Restaurants Around Kansas City???

Besides the back of the grocery store, here's where local food comes from . . . IF this strike doesn't take hold:

Delivery drivers at Olathe Sysco facility go on strike to push for better wages and benefits

OLATHE, Kan. - Thursday morning dozens of Sysco delivery drivers in Olathe traded their trucks for picket signs. The group of 38 went on strike to highlight what it called "unfair labor practices" by the food distributor. Driver Mike Burner said the group voted in December 2014 to unionize as part of the Teamsters Local 41.

  3. I am sure there are 38 School Bus Drivers who would like your higher paying driving job. Then you can go and drive a school bus and see how well you like that.

  4. The drivers at Sysco are treated unfairly daily. They have horrible working conditions and the local management act like morons. I know this for a fact and hope the public will support these men in getting a fair settlement.
Sysco's statement is in error. Management walked out of a meeting with union negotiators laughing at them for saying "Today we would like to discuss improving the healthcare package".
    That is the truth.

  5. I really enjoy farm to table dining and also get very excited when I see there are "house cut fries" on the menu.

I guess I'm just a real foodie that way.

  6. Farm to table is the best way to go, we don't need mouse poop and dirty equipment with mass production touching our food.

  7. Good for them. They deliver to my work and I know they are treated poorly by management. UPS are all union and they are the most profitable parcel service in America. Treat your employees well and you'll reap the rewards.

  8. Sysco pricing isn't all that great over other options for getting food in KC. So is this another deal where the higher ups have it good and the drivers have it bad? I'm sure US Foods and Restaurant Depot will like the added business.

  10. There are plenty of other food supply companies that will pick up the slack and their drivers will enjoy the overtime.
