TKC TUESDAY NIGHT ELECTION WATCH QUESTION: SHOULD KANSAS CITY NAME THE NEW AIRPORT AFTER MAYOR SLY JAMES???
First, a quick update on voter turnout from one of our pals living on the nicer side of the bridge . . .
"Voting at Northland polling places higher than usual turnout for special elections - Per Election Board poll workers. My estimate is that maybe 20-25% higher than normal."
Another note from a media insider:
I’ve driven by three precincts and there was big turnout for off year.
"I get the same feeling as one year ago when Trump won. And I predicted that shortly after he entered the race. Many people I spoke with are fed up with how this whole thing went down. They may like the idea of a new airport but they're saying “NO” right now to show leaders they need to listen to voters and do this the right way."
This is a good sign for opponents of Question #1 and possibly a glimmer of hope given the seemingly endless litany of hype dominating this vote . . .
But looking ahead . . .
PROPONENTS OF THE NEW AIRPORT ALREADY WANT TO HONOR MAYOR SLY JAMES BY NAMING THE NEW KANSAS CITY SINGLE-TERMINAL IN HIS HONOR . . . DO YOU SUPPORT THIS TRIBUTE???
Yes, it's still too early for this talk but the Better KCI folks are already declaring victory via social media.
The obvious yet still chuckle-worthy suggestion: Prez Trump Kansas City Airport - Which doesn't make sense given the lack of International flights to Russia.
You decide . . .
The
ReplyDeleteHell
NO.
That turd doesn’t deserve to have a landfill named after him, much less an airport.
ReplyDeleteNo airport has ever been named "Weasle"..
ReplyDelete^^^ LOL! Nicely done.
ReplyDeletedrove by a couple voting spots on my way to vote . why were there “better kci vote yes “ signs on the property ? i thought that it was illegal to campaign at a polling place , help me understand
ReplyDeleteits illegal 25 feet from the entrance of said polling place.
DeleteThe Robert E. Lee International Airport has a nice ring to it.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
DeleteIt is illegal to electioneer within 50 ft. of a polling place. The signs, I am guessing, were outside this range. Where I voted today. there were a couple millennials and their dog campaigning for "Yes" in the parking lot, and 50 ft. from the door. I have seen people with a measuring tape before, but usually they just consult a poll watcher. The law exists to prevent chaos at the polling place, not necessarily to prevent people from influencing others' votes. Typically, and especially in the kind of election we had here today, voters have their minds made up long before heading to the polls, and a sign or last minute appeal is not really going to sway them.
ReplyDeletethanks

You’re all hopelessly out of touch with this city. I especially liked it when Tony tried to equate the homicide rate with voting no. I knew it was going to pass easy after that!!!
ReplyDeleteNah, just build it. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHarry S Truman International, for all the obvious reasons.
ReplyDeleteLow turnout as expected. Let's not forget that 30% of Kansas City voters would shove a stick of TNT up their ass if they were told to do so.
