TKC EXCLUSIVE FACT CHECK!!! PROMISE BROKEN: KANSAS CITY TAXPAYERS WILL PAY FOR NEW AIRPORT!!!

The future of Kansas City's biggest public works project hangs in the balance as Republicans & Prez Trup push a controversial House budget that eliminates Private Activity Bonds (PABs) and challenges the biggest lie that was perpetrated on local voters in decades.

KC Insider reality check . . .

KANSAS CITY TAXPAYERS WILL PAY FOR THE NEW AIRPORT NOW THAT PRIVATE ACTIVITY BONDS ARE OUT OF FAVOR & CONFRONT POLITICAL CHALLENGE!!!

Moreover . . .

CITY HALL WAS A DAY LATE AND A DOLLAR SHORT IN PUSHING THE NEW AIRPORT AND THIS SKETCHY FINANCING SCHEME!!!

The talk about KC "not paying a dime" was always a lie and everybody involved in this election knew it . . . Less than a month after a rigged vote, the fabrication is unraveling.

Our blog community readers and AWESOME TKC INSIDERS point us to the ballot language in question . . .

"All costs paid solely from the revenues derived by the City from the operation of its airports and related facilities, and without the issuance of general airport revenue bonds UNLESS such general airport revenue bonds have received prior voter approval?"

To wit . . .

THANKS TO PREZ TRUMP: WE'RE VOTING ON THE NEW KANSAS CITY AIRPORT AGAIN AND THIS TIME TAXPAYER WILL BE ON THE HOOK FOR MORE THAN A BILLION BUCKS!!!

And all of this speaks to the confused, haphazard and sketchy financing of the deal employed by Kansas City corporate and political leaders which is now facing push back from Prez Trump and the GOP budget in their efforts to "drain the swamp" or at least fight over financing options.

Developing . . .

The best business in KC is political consulting. Just a rinse and repeat of mailers. This should help funnel more money before the 2019 cycle.

    2. Did anybody ever believe we wouldn't be paying for this thing in the long run. Whether it's with higher prices or another City Hall tax increase. This is the way it has ALWAYS worked.

I don't know if's it's a broken promise or just another bait and switch.

Hell, this crowd can't even protest an election that any idiot knew was a fucking farce. People in KC need to either get some nads or just continue to cry like babies, blame everyone else for their own apathy and get out thier wallets.

  22. Why, Steve Rose told us all that Johnson Countians and Fort Leavenworthians are the main users of the KCI Airport, and the new Single Terminal will be for entirely from User Fees!
That has to mean that, if the User Fees are inadequate, they would be perfectly willing to voluntarily dig down into their pockets to makeup any difference.

Otherwise, you skeptics would be implying that Steve Rose is as worthless a sack of lying shit a Sly James!

  24. at this holiday season, out-of-staters should give thanks to citizens of kcmo, not just for building us a new airport but also for everything else, including the hotel and free streetcar. it'll be great.

  25. Did the reporters at the Star cover this possibility?

  26. Tax cuts were never intended for infrastructure. Never have been never will be. Nothing but share holders and CEO's under that blue sky. If you saw this, you don't matter.

    ReplyDelete
  27. This is what happens when you put party loyalty over common sense. In Kansas City, they talk about inclusion and being progressive while they screw us with stupid economic development projects (e.g., if no private company will step up to build a new hotel in KC then maybe it's because it doesn't make economic sense so why should the city do it?). On the national level the Republicans stir up hate and anti-political correctness then screw those same people with temporary faux tax cuts with large tax cuts for multi-billionaires and corporations promising more jobs (Reagan did this in the 1980s. It didn't work then and won't work now. In fact, the poverty rate rose and middle class incomes stagnated).

  28. Given the number of Kansas Shitians who don't pay taxes the Peckerwoods better wake the fuck up and go vote.

The real scam in all this is the attitude that Federal money is not tax payer dollars. Lying bastards.
