TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! REPORT: MAYOR SLY AND MISSOURI POLITICOS HOLD UP HOLIDAY SEASON RETURN TRIP HOME FOR THE TROOPS!!!

Sent our way from some of our KICK-ASS TKC BLOG COMMUNITY READERS who are frustrated with "optics" over real world support for soldiers . . . Here's a perspective on local politics and exceptionally bad planning . . .

"The 1-138th Regiment of the Missouri national guard, headquartered at 7600 Ozark Rd, in Raytown, Mo, returned from deployment to Fort Bliss, TX to demobilize on 21 Nov, before returning home to Missouri. The demobilization process, which usually takes a week involves administrative processing. However, the unit is being kept in TX, apart from their families an extra week doing nothing, because a homecoming ceremony could not be scheduled until 7 Dec due to the fact that it was the only date that fit into Mayor Sly James and other local politicos schedules. The local figures want to get their photo ops with a homecoming unit. After a year of being apart from their families, the soldiers will have to be kept waiting stuck in TX so the local politicos can look good. The Missouri Guard is is pandering to the Mayor Sly when it should be the other way around."

You decide . . .

    1. Exactly, so it's the Governor's fault. The Guard does answer to him.

Good afternoon. There is no truth to this rumor. We understand families and Soldiers want to be home as soon as possible, however, every Soldier must complete a Release from Active Duty process at an active duty installation before that is possible. This is an organized, deliberate and detailed process aimed at ensuring Soldiers health, readiness to return home, and smooth reintegration with their families. This is not a Missouri National Guard process, but an active duty, US Army process.

Our state leadership has been working with the unit throughout their deployment and since returning to the United States. Assistant Adjutant General, BG William Ward, and 110th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade commander Col. Sharon Martin have both met with the unit at Fort Bliss. The 1-138th Infantry Regiment’s process is proceeding on-time and to standard, which is typically a 14 work-day process. This process is not expected to be complete until Dec. 6. Currently, the welcome home is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 7.

We will release the specific welcome home ceremony information as soon as it becomes available. We hope you will join us to welcome our Soldiers home!

    1. I had my facts incorrect. The army is working hard to ensure that soldiers are ready to go home.

  7. So what your saying is that this Kick-ass TKC insider is dead wrong, has no idea what they are are talking about, and needlessly slagged Sly for no other reason than to garner a post on a third-rate blog that really nobody reads? Is that what you're saying?

  10. ^^^ Thanks Bryan!

I believe you are correct but that doesn't mean political considerations are not part of their decision making process.

  11. What time is the ceremony? The Missouri National Guard still has not told my daughter what time I need to be off work.
