Will Speculative East Side Gentrification Solve Kansas City Racial Divide???

There's a faulty premise that MSM and tech media keep missing . . .

All of the angst over East Side "gentrification" assumes that these speculative projects will become successful. The reality is that businesses fail and the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.

And so . . . All of the hype, debate and hand-wringing over this project is presumptuous at this point given an inability to capitalize on this part of town over the past half century despite an EPIC amount of public subsidy.

Can a brewpub, retail and 670 housing units mend Troost's racial divide?

No turning back now, Ilan Salzberg said. "This is real," the Wonder lofts developer laughed, gesturing at the freshly installed kitchen cabinetry and hardware in a model apartment unit at 30th Street and Troost Avenue.

  17. The four corners Armour and Troost??? Are they kidding, that's crack corner!
This is going to be funny to watch, they already have a parking problem in Central Hyde Park, 18th and vine is losing money, what makes them think this is going to go over as a success? This is going to be a disaster and no one is going to go there, just like Beacon Hill is not getting off the ground.

The property values in that area, Harrison, Armour, Campbell and beyond, should tank pretty bad.
