TKC SUNDAY QUESTION: DID KMBC PREZ SARAH SMITH PUSH NEW KANSAS CITY AIRPORT QUESTION #1 OVER THE TOP WITH FAKE NEWS ENDORSEMENT?!?!

Like it or not, Kansas City mainstream media TV news support of #NewKCI could be the deciding factor for the upcoming airport vote.

Here's a glimpse of corporate media new airport hype that that's has more influence and will garner more attention than any writing on the topic.

Take a look:

KMBC Prez Sarah Smith: "A yes vote will set our city up for a brighter future, with no cost to taxpayers. None. The new airport terminal would be paid for by the airlines and fees from the people using it. Most of those fees would be paid by people living outside our area.

"It's too expensive to renovate the existing airport. We need a new one, built for the future. Vote yes on ballot Question No. 1 on Nov. 7. Let's live up to our motto that everything is up to date in Kansas City."

Allow us a quick retort . . .

THE KMBC EDITORIAL IS FAKE NEWS BECAUSE IT'S BASED SOLELY ON THROWAWAY CAMPAIGN LIT PROMISES PRODUCED BY OUT-OF-TOWN POLITICAL CONSULTANTS!!!

For an alternative perspective, check Citizens For Responsible Government KC and their Myth-busting series on Facebook.

But here's the question . . .

HOW MUCH INFLUENCE WILL THIS TV NEWS ENDORSEMENT HAVE OVER THE KMBC AUDIENCE???

More than any other TV station, their viewership is regional and might not cast a ballot on Nov. 7th. However, the mainstream pitch for this vote is clearly gaining momentum while opponents of the effort are still mostly comprised of grassroots resistance.

Developing . . .

Comments

  1. I notice that they're running this a lot less than their other endorsements.

But a look at their demographics makes this a big deal.

A viewership of white, mostly female viewers over 50 years old and with higher incomes will certainly sway the vote. Sorry Tk.

    1. An advertising play plain and simple.

All of the big companies in KC are endorsing this vote. Those are the best local advertisers. So, it makes sense that they would go this way.

    2. The station has a good record on endorsements. It really depends how much they run her spot. Agree with the first commenter, surprised that her pitch isn't online yet and hasn't seen much rotation on TV.

    Like usual, we'll wait.

  14. No cost to taxpayers as long as they don't fly and the airlines survive.

  16. Apparently, Smith has never been to the airports in New York, Chicago, LA, London, Minneapolis or San Francisco because all of those airports are much older than KCI. None of those cities built new airports. Instead, they renovated them.

    1. And KCI will never be a New York, Chicago, LA, London, Minneapolis or San Francisco. Your point?

  17. Most of KCI's frequent flyers can't vote on this issue because they don't live in KCMO. Hopefully, there are enough informed citizens who will send a message to the establishment by voting NO on November 7.

I hate it when so-called experts tell me how to vote, and call me idiot when I don't do things the way they want. Vote NO on November 7. NO NO NO NO NO

  18. This station will have reports of construction flaws and needing more money for more terminals.in the future. ..Her comments may have a slight affect on the election. Most of 9s,viewer's are out side the city limits.

  20. OK, 8:56:

"A yes vote will set our city up for a brighter future, with no cost to taxpayers. None."

Hard to prove one way or another. Airports don't usually determine the future of a city, and most fliers are taxpayers who will pay the costs in fees IF the airport does not encounter unexpected cost overruns, which, given the limited time it took to come up with the plans is highly unlikely. Change orders, anyone? And what type of contract will be issued? Fixed price? Cost plus fixed fee? There's way too much we don't know.

"It's too expensive to renovate the existing airport."

It is usually cheaper to repair than replace. Given that we have no bids or specs on fixing up the existing convenient airport, this is an unproven assertion.

This will be an interesting election.

    "Fake news endorsement"??

I "love" how you people seem to think that the First Amendment only applies to anonymous dirt bags.

She's entitled to her opinion & she's entitled to express it.

    "...a cunt is running it."

That's some really deep shit, there.

  30. The process has been corrupt and sloppy. Now we are supposed to think with a rush job and Dilbertville amateur leadership some wonderful turnaround will deliver something outdtanding but they can't answer yet. The public is wanting to be more professional whereas the Chamber swells just want the pork monster fed with airport pie.

  31. 8:56A she does not make any substantiated points to refute. well said 7:36P. When this town actually does a project that is interesting that improves the quality of life of the residents, let me know. It used to be a nice self-sufficient cow town, now it it is washed up polluted cow pie.

  32. The rivers are the only interesting thing about the KC metro, and y'all fck'd em up instead of utilizing them, made them your sewer and things not to notice while u drive over. There are some nice geological features as well that should have been accentuated as well, but now no one would ever notice them. It's pathetic really.

    ReplyDelete
  33. that must be what 'everything is update in KC" means, rivers are dirty and polluted, you shit & lets others shit all over the natural environment, and think we can build nicer things with concrete and steel that will make folks want to visit. When i visit colorado i go to experience the airport, not the mountains.

    ReplyDelete
  34. and DO NOT TRY TO brag about your parks and blvd system which is a carved up, polluted, diminutive pieces of shit. WOO hoo drive dwn ward parkway and look at a patch of grass between 2 roads surrounded by up scale suburban idiots.
