Terminal proposal architects not legally licensed in Missouri
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - An integral part of the Edgemoor team is not registered in the state of Missouri to perform any airport terminal work in Kansas City. SOM Architects, who has done much of the airport terminal design for the KCI project, is performing "illegal service providing" by doing architecture work without being a licensed party with a state board which maintains licensees for professional registration for architects.
So far what has been legal about this whole show?

ReplyDeleteActually, given the ridiculous design and lack of details of this farce, we should be happy that it ISN'T the work of an actual licensed architect.

Wake up KANSAS CITY MISSOURI. YOUR GOING TO HAVE SO MANY CONSTRUCTION FLAWS. LOOK AT THE PROBLEMS BUILDING THE DENVER AIRPORT. K.C.I. COULD HAVE BEEN REMODELED BY NOW. WITH ENOUGH GATES FOR FUTURE EXPANSION.

ReplyDeleteThis is much ado aboot nuffin'. They can apply for license by comity, a standard practice in professional fields. It does not require a test, just an application, letters of reference, design experience (sometimes), and license fee; turned around in a week or so. NCEES is making it even easier to apply by comity. You basically tell the State in which you seek a license to download you standardized application information and review it instead of completing their local application.
ReplyDelete@3:38 - You are absolutely right. The unfortunate part - they were not allowed to propose without the license. In Missouri, you have to be licensed even to propose.
