  2. 1 Million dollar bond which will not be lowered before trial. No reductions or house arrest considered. This is one reason why Clay and Platte counties don’t have the crime problems Jackson does. Jackson County Judges give $100,000 bonds on murders, shootings, and robberies, only to reduce them to $100k 10% two weeks later or giving them recognizance bonds putting them right back on the streets. Judge Mary Weir is a prime example of this as she released Orlando Gentry from jail without having to post a bond after initially having a $100k cash only bond for the church shooting and being a felon in possession of a firearm earlier in the year. Gentry was then the victim of homicide about a month ago.
