KANSAS CITY STREETCAR ELECTION DAY DEBATE SPARKS TOUGH TALK BETWIXT TAX FIGHTERS AND TOY TRAIN CHEERLEADERS!!!

Today marks another vote on one of the most corrupt transit lines ever built in Kansas City.

Even better, the low stakes of this election have sparked some intense fighting, false flag mailers and more than a bit of social media rage.

The most noteworthy slap fight . . .

The South Plaza HOA and the Smart KC crew have engaged in a bitter feud that could spark a lifetime of tensions in this community.

A peek at the fight as leader Sherry DeJanes writes:

"It has come to my attention that, in your capacity as president of the South Plaza HOA, you sent an email to your membership stating that BESMARTKC sent out a deceptive flyer concerning the upcoming streetcar directors' election . . . You should check your facts before you start slinging mud around.

"You are correct that SMARTKC is against this streetcar expansion effort. Among other things, we believe: the mail-in election process disenfranchises the voters and is unconstitutional; the funding method is unfair and illogical; & the streetcar is too expensive and does not truly provide transportation. However, as realists we believe that, since the TDD was formed, the Board of Directors should not be populated only by those who will blindly rubberstamp the wishes of those who were on the Downtown TDD Board. We believe the TDD needs directors who will advocate for and promote transparency and fiscal responsibility and will ensure that the best interests of all residents of the TDD are served. We are not trying to deceive anyone, we believe the candidates we are supporting will do just that."

Accordingly . . .

CHECK THE STREETCAR "POISON PILL CANDIDATES" FOR BOARD LEADERSHIP WHO REALLY DON'T LIKE THE TOY TRAIN AND OPPOSE EXPANSION!!!

Ted Derks
Greg Allen
Steve McCandless
Linda Hart Tabory

For better or worse, these candidates will probably work in opposition to the goals of the streetcar from the inside, which would be cool if the whole thing wasn't just a ponzi scheme perpetrated on voters.

But I digress . . .

The polls are open now and a sample ballot can be found at the Kansas City election board website.

Even better, here's a look at polling locations today . . .

You decide . . .

    1. I don't know if I would call them a "poison pill" although I do think that's clever. I do think the FANTASTIC FOUR candidates will provide greater representation and real leadership!

That's the most we can ask for a streetcar governing body that has been mostly secretive up to this point.

    2. Streetcar is just another Sly scam. They don't win unless they cheat and KC already voted NO to expansion without a vote of the entire city. But the crazy train won't stop for the voters, they only answer to our mayor who should face some real questions about his actions and record on these questionable votes.

  2. On the bright side it's raining and that means all of these people fighting will get soggy today and maybe have a chance to cool their jets.

  3. Countdown to Kevin spamming his shitty little website that nobody wants to read. Go streetcar, you keep an army of hack consultants employed!

    1. We need better transit in KC. We need to support streetcar expansion and make sure the right people have the job! I think candidates should be honest about where they stand, the streetcar board of directors isn't the right place for opposition. We should all want to move this project and our city forward!

  4. If streetcars were "better transit," our great grandparents would never have dumped them in favor of buses.

  5. imho, we should have kept the streetcars and let development evolve differently.

  6. Those four candidates are profiles in courage and involvement. We'll see what happens, but kudos to them for exemplary citizenship.

  7. Ted Derks is a rancid old bigot who would have you imprisoned and raped before you were thrown out the country. He hates Mexicans and anyone of Mexican heritage.

  8. 8:51: imho we could have done a lot if things differently, but we didn't, so we have to live with things as they are, not as they could have been in an alternate reality.

  9. All that TooT LooT Toy Train Thingy fat fraud $ millions could have been better invested in safe, efficient electric buses along with some real infrastructure renewal. Skilled trades training programs would be a favorable ROI, and perhaps KC would have increases to the local MWOBEs. Then, the airport REMODEL could provide more locals with decent wages of that $15 and we'll above with benefits.

So, the two mile touristy trinket proved a very expensive lesson, but an expansion is a FUBAR folly! If KC doesn't chop this TooT LooT off at this costly, boutiquey starter line...
...THEN ROSA PARKSES AND ROSIE THE RIVETERS OF OUR METRO GOT ROBBED!!!

MANY KANSAS CITIANS COULD BENEFIT FAR MORE WITH TREA$URE $PENT ON LOCAL TALENT. NO MORE TOY TRAINS FROM SPAIN!!!

  11. Vote for the famous four and do not let Johnson keep creeping closer and closer to the entrance to the polling place on Main Street with his "Sly James endorses the shit head seven" handout. Make him measure the distance if he is too close call the election board!

  12. Don't forget former social media guru (LOL) for H+R block Matty Staubio who doesn't have to run because he is a TDD director.

  13. another RIGGED Kansas City election.
