We talked about this last week and now public radio provides a more enthusiastic update. Checkit:

Kansas City Area Fast-Food And Other Workers Mark Labor Day With A Strike

Workers at Kansas City-area McDonald's, Burger King and other restaurants are planning to participate in what's being billed as a national strike on Labor Day, calling for $15 an hour as well as union rights. Terrence Wise, who works at McDonald's and is a leader of the organization Stand-Up KC/Fight for $15, says workers in his industry don't get the day off.

  1. Fast food is way too high in sodium and affects blood pressure. And eventually your heart.

  2. You are not worth $15/hr.....
It's Fast Food not Fast Money.

  3. "Workers in his industry don't get the day off".
Neither do cops, hospital workers, 911 operators, everyone in the military, and hundreds of thousands of others.
And, unlike "workers in his industry", we actually count on those other folks.
Demanding anything from a position of the weakness of having at best marginal skills and education is an exercise in arrogance and stupidity, never a good combination.
Maybe someone should read them a story about the air traffic controllers similar "demands" during the Reagan years.
It's sad to see these folks lied to and jerked around by the local politicos like Sly and irresponsible clowns like Terrance Wise.
It's a pretty safe bet that when they get their pay docked or even get fired for not showing up for work, "activists" like Wise will land on his feet and be taken care of.

PATCO found out once long time ago that it is possible to price yourself right out of a job.

  12. This is right up there with going to the buffet, serving yourself, having an attendant come by and announce she will get this used plates off the table "for you", and then acting put out because she didn't get a tip. Nobody owes you anything. What is your plan B to increase personal income?

  13. Tony, why do you keep using Reed's high school pic. Take his current pic. You know, the Little Debbie diabetic, inflamed pic of Reed. He doesn't look like the top pic anymore.
