Denver Does It Better Than Kansas City

Quick Sunday conclusion for Kansas City Sunday . . .

Despite a great deal of local boosterism and cowtown propaganda, it still seems like Denver remains a better city.

Sorry.

The latest evidence:

Spoiler . . . NYT says Denver should get Amazon HQ2 despite this town's promise of an "agressive" bid: Dear Amazon, We Picked Your New Headquarters for You

Denver also hosts better mass transit than KC and a rail line out to the airport.

Finally, legal weed has created a booming industry in Colorado that has eclipsed the so-called "silicon prairie" and fundamentally challenged the underlying structure of the American economy.

And while consultants, politicos and pundits attempt to sell Kansas City to the world . . . A quick comparison to Denver reveals this cowtown ranks far below the mile-high city.

You decide . . .

Comments

  1. Cheap and legal weed.

It's the last american formula for growth. If Kc was serious about regaining ground as a tourist destination, this is the route we would go.

    2. But at least they don't have to throw away money on so many stupid "entertainment" district projects. Just a license for the politically connected to steal, really.

  2. And again, none of this is as important as cheap and legal weed.

  9. Denver only had 45 murders as of Sept 7. We have 106. That has to count for something, right. Plus, opioids and heroin are easier and less expensive to get here. We have them beat, all to hell.

  16. I agree. Kansas City is not suited for Amazon. Kansas maybe... but Kansas City? Not at all. Denver is much more progressive and I've considered moving there. Not because I'm a drug head but they seem to favor enterprise. Kansas City does not and cannot. It would take a complete overhaul of local and state government to get there. Folks in politics are unwilling to do that given the whole pay to play mentality that exists here. I love Amazon like the next person but their headquarters should be built elsewhere.

  17. One thing that the KC area has that Denver does not is... water. With the population of the Front Range growing and limited amounts of water, eventually, growth in Colorado will slow or stop altogether. This is not to say that the KC area would be a better choice overall, but water is an important resource.

  20. Denver has everything a black man could want. For assistance call our relocations office 303-555-BOON.

  21. Denver has air problems. The transit system is really a mess. "Walk from one line to the other through downtown." It is trashy like noone has ever heard that trash goes in the trash can.
Kansas City has violence and a corrupt city hall. BUT they could go out to La La Land in south Johnson county and take advantage of the Edgeton development.
