TKC MUST SEE!!! TOY TRAIN STREETCAR SUPPORTERS BEG COUNCIL TO OVERTURN KANSAS CITY QUESTION 1 VOTERS!!!

A hastily thrown together website with faulty forms and featuring an outright lie as its tagline.

moveforwardkc.com

"Tell your Councilperson to repeal Question 1 now, because it prevents city officials and employees from conducting necessary city business."

Actually, Question 1 simply mandates a citywide vote for extending the streetcar which is reasonable given that KCMO resources PAID FOR BY ALL RESIDENTS support the line . . . And the streetcar can't move forward without more City Hall funding that goes beyond the TDD boundaries.

And once again we remind locals . . .

QUESTION 1 EARNED FIVE TIMES THE SUPPORT FROM KANSAS CITY VOTERS THAN THE RIGGED MAIL-IN STREETCAR EXTENSION VOTE THAT REQUIRED A NOTARY AND WAS SPECIALLY DESIGNED BY DEVELOPMENT LAWYERS!!!

Moreover, our main disagreement with the streetcar isn't even about the streetcar which is kinda cute and serves its purpose as overhype faux transit . . .

The dangerous part of streetcar irrational exuberance is the Mayor, members of Council, consultants, lawyers and biz people actively working to subvert local Democracy and bypass voters.

This latest grumbling looking to nullify voters is just another example the tend.

You decide . . .

  1. sorry, the people have spoken.

    it's called democracy.

something the politicians are trying to make us forget.

  2. The Counsel will see multiple lawsuits if they do not respect the Question 1 vote which will force a city wide vote.
The relationship this Counsel has with the City is terrible and getting worse. Trust in the counsel is very low today and getting worse.
Maybe we should create a taxing district around 18th and Vine or around the Linwood Grocery Store to help finance these projects.

  3. The Mayor was elected, twice. It's called democracy.

  4. Dummocrat progressives will do anything to prevent any narrative but their own. They should be called the desperation party.

  5. The streetcar failed a city-wide vote twice. It's called democracy.

  6. Hahahah If we had a nickel for every time streetcar proponents told us that the TDD paid for the streetcar and and no city resources were used for it so they shouldn't need citywide permission to tax themselves, well, we'd probably have enough nickels to pay for the entire UMKC extension.

  7. The people have spoken twice. Hopefully, City Hall will follow the will of the people. This is a form of government called democracy.

  8. I say all those who voted no file a class action suit against moveforwardkc for harrassing/harassment and attempting to disrupt/disqualify the voting rights of the people of Kansas City

  9. we elect executives, we don't elect dictators.

  10. Did we just hear someone say "voting rights"?
Where's voting rights champion Jason Pander?
He's in Kansas polishing up his already shiny, though not entirely convincing, resume'.
The phoniness and arrogance of these folks never ceases to amaze.

  11. Typical of Degenerate pathetic Communists to pull a stunt like this !!

Quite possibly they'll change their minds, when several of em' turn up missing like J.R.H ,,,,,,,,,

  12. forget kander, support ossoff against yoder. ossoff says he doesn't have to live in the district he'd represent.

better yet, he'll win by losing.

yes, kander also won by losing, but his arguments about running in a place he doesn't live are less persuasive.

  13. Here's the question: Do a majority of the citizens of Kansas City want a streetcar extension now?

    The manifest answer is no.

As a supporter of the downtown streetcar and downtown urban development, I can see both sides of the extension case.

But most or a majority of people don't want it, at least not yet.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The no votes on the streetcar are going to vote no on the airport boondoggle too!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Maybe they should be more concerned about our own backyard starting with flush creek and the sewers

  16. All true, above commenters. But this is what happens when know-nothing know-it-alls like Sherry deJanes craft petitions that are HALF great law, but HALF unConstitutional. She brought this on herself, because she inserted a stupid, illegal stipulation that attempts to FINE city hall employees $1000 for doing what their bosses order them to do.

Those of us who oppose indiscriminate use of TDD, deserve better leadership. The language for Question 1 was just as cockamamie as Clay Chastain's cocktail napkin design years ago for a light rail train to make a 90 degree turn!

So now this is bogged down with dueling lawsuits. Diverting energy from the real fight, that the first dozen commenters are seeking: To stop the aggressive willful fleecing of the KCMO taxpayer to
benefit the suits who pay for their campaigns, in order to subsidize shiny objects and a new airport instead of maintaining and fixing the infrastructure already in place.

  17. Tracy for the win. Once again, brilliant analysis.

  18. Why not get Sherry more information so she can be prepared to counter and respond most effectively. Get the rhetorical missile ship ready for what comes next. Remember they have big money and a rigged machine in place, it takes an organized, smart effort to defeat that.

  19. IT's time to start voting out all of these incumbent council members and get some new blood in there

    ReplyDelete
  20. What do you say Tony and Tracy?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Andy by the way, Sherry stood up when not to many were, we can all improve our games here, but play for the win and something better.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I do not know Tony, Sherry, or Tracy but pretty sure in coherent campaign we can kick the blank out of the blanking usual suspects. Might be good sport.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Save KCI! Vote no on the inconvenient proposal with long airport lines and fast-food joints.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I have long advocated for Johnson County to step up and take financial responsibility for something big in the metro. Build a new airport here, at Gardner. Southwest Airlines can lead the parade. When they go public with their secret Plan B--to do it right, much closer to the 75% OF THE FLYING PUBLIC that does not live in KCMO--whoo baby, the other airlines will follow like baby ducklings.

And as one commenter mentioned here on TKC I think yesterday, an airport is a federally regulated project. So regardless of which state it is located in, the entire metro is of course needed to weigh in on the future.

So, 1;09, Mr. Anonymous, put your name and your city on your comments. And put your toilet seat in its upright and locked position, cuz you are full of it.

  25. Tracy, Johnson County could do flood control quit sending all your damn storm water to Missouri. Hey build those lakes.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Tracy -- You would be a lot more effective if you helped stop the unDemocratic forces over in Missouri rather than standing on the sidelines and throwing rocks at DeJanes and others.

  27. Sherry is my hero. She stood up to the crooks at City Hall. She has my total support. Let's see what JoCoPost can do besides sit on the sidelines and criticize. Talk about nerve!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Tracy you should be praising not calling names. Maybe a donation and some free advise would help the group that Dee Janes is invharge of.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Trust me, I've tried several times.

Sherry deJanes wasted the money she was given. Blew $40,000 as far as I can discern, on billboards that were unreadable, with the wrong copy, on the wrong side of the road. And so-called pop up ads on cell phones?? Crazy expenditures by amateurs. She and CFRG's Dan Coffey (who is still on probation with the Missouri Ethics Commission, but tells donors otherwise) appear to be on an uncoachable ego trip.

They do not return phone calls, and will not meet to discuss strategy. Preying on the good will and generosity of others to finance egotistical campaigns. Just like Clay, they're all about taking credit. But they never have a clean victory.

One donor was fleeced of $26,000 and lied to about what his money was spent on. And I don't believe the MEC reports reflect the truth. Once again.

I've worked for free for two four decades to stop the taxpayer pickpockets. Have stopped $2.4 BILLION in tax ripoffs. So I don't need to be lectured. Especially by a troll too cowardly to sign their scolding.

I've been silent a long time about this. But the screwup on Issue #1, which is leading to a totally unnecessary lawsuit, and a distraction from the hotel and KCI debacles that need to be stopped--this needs to be called out. Don't kill the carrier pigeon.

If she's not smart enough to have a seasoned lawyer craft the wording of a ballot issue, then those two need to step aside and let others lead. This was a rube mistake. Just as ego driven as Clay Chastain's perpetual errors.

We will not be successful until our alternatives are legally worded, and expertly marketed.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ok Tracy, how do we get rhetorical artillery ready to take on the machine. If you are game I am game. They will come back out with secret strategy hoping to blow by democratic voting on issues we must be prepared.

You are not being lectured, but we don't want to kneecap potential allies as the opposition will try and marginalize anything that suggests options should be seriously reviewed.
