TKC EXCLUSIVE SCOOP!!! AMID POLITICAL CONTROVERSY KANSAS CITY WESTPORT ICE CREAM BAKERY FUNDRAISER STANDS UP FOR POLICE OFFICER KILLED!!!
After a police officer was gunned down in Westport this Summer, there should have been massive public outrage. This should have been an occasion where police and community united in order to bring peace to Kansas City party districts and streets throughout the metro. There should have been some significant effort to mark the slaughter of a 1st responder who dedicated his life to keeping people safe and was tragically caught in the crossfire of a fight. Sadly, the murder was just one of 100 in 2017 so far with very few people willing to help find the killers or speak out against the horrific crime.
However, today there's a small sign of hope for a Westport restart and tribute to the tragic demise of a local law enforcement officer.
Even better, a local biz that has been involved in Midtown KC political controversy is showing its true colors for a good cause.
Recently, we talked to a friend of the blog and a KC insider about Westport Ice Cream Bakery and recent tumult surrounding the biz. Here's their side of the story . . .
"I talked to Steve Engravalle (the owner of Westport Ice Cream Bakery) last week while he was on vacation - he's sickened by all the accusations, but trying to be a stand-up guy. I respect him for coming into the shit-show left behind by Murray's and trying to do a great business in Westport while bullets fly.
"Despite some of the rumblings, I've found Steve to be a very sharp business owner with love for the community he now calls home. I've heard some say he's homophobic, but I don't know where the hell that comes from - he had Pride posters in his shop in June and has been supportive of the Center for Inclusion (formerly LikeME Lighthouse) since I went in to his shop one day and asked if he'd work to help the LGBT community. He's been receptive and helpful and has donated some goodies for good causes . . . "
And today . . .

Now . . .
Like it or not, this biz might still have critics but we have to ask . . . What have the haterz done to keep Westport safe???
Bitter political disagreements over politically charged topics might be part of the cable-TV-social-media discourse but we have to agree with a great many of our blog community who support this biz for at least taking an active role in supporting public safety amid a historically violent Kansas City Summer.
