    1. Closing gun shops does not reduce the number of criminals procuring guns. It does, however, make it more difficult for non-criminals to purchase guns.

  8. More people die by cars than guns, do we ban car dealerships too?

  9. 8:27, good one. And, do tech devices get banned, because texting while driving...? What about banning eyesight, since reading texts while driving is proven as lethal? Oh, and ban fingers so typing texts is eliminated. Voices are to be banned, to avoid further deadly distractions. Hell, ban everything on this spinning rock to STOP all risk of violence everywhere.

  10. One question I couldn't find an answer to by re-reading the KCUR article. No, I'm sorry- two questions!

Which of the two "ladies" stated the fistfight in the moving car the previous day?

Were the two guns that Mister "DayDay" used to murder Ms. Pennington LEGALLY PURCHASED from one of the Gun Shops that the article implies are the root cause of all the violence in the African American community?

Sorry again, that leads to a third question... if it turns out that "DayDay" had prior felonies and could not legally own a gun, what steps are the Police and KCUR's Investigative Reporters taking to track down and prosecute the individuals that illegally sold them to him?

  12. "Police and prosecutors say arguments in Kansas City are often settled with a gun, which are plentiful in the metro area. Coupled with a lack of gun control laws, the accessibility often thwarts anti-violence advocates’ efforts."

Who is the millennial uninformed ignorant ass who researched this story? Probably no one since there was obviously NO real research done.

First there is not one sentence in the story to tie the guns used in the crime to a legal firearms purchase by the offenders.

Second, The idea that guns are easily accessible, at local gun shops, is a farce. Gun shops are frequently audited by the ATF. These audits not only include record examinations to insure compliance, but also include validation checks related to background investigation and accounting for all controlled gun inventories to insure all transfers have been conducted legally. An FFL who can not account for firearms will either loose his license or be prosecuted - sometimes both.

FBI NICS delays in gun transactions erroneously occur frequently - just to make sure nothing is getting through the cracks at guns shops. People with Top Secret clearances have been delayed making gun purchases simply because there was a record - not even a criminal record. People with common names are often delayed as a precaution and manual intervention is required to clear the gun purchase. People who have never been convicted of crimes have been denied gun purchases simply because someone with the same name was once arrested even thought the charges were later dropped. Clearing this kind of mess up often requires an attorney. Anyone stating legal gun purchases are easy in Missouri is a fucking idiot and has no idea how the process even works or the extent at which records are accessed and matched.

The figure of over 525 gun dealers is misleading, at least in the context of the story. A large number of these FFL licenses are issued to Pawn Shops, which are required to have an FFL in order to pawn firearms. Firearm distributors, warehousing and Manufacturers, who don't sell to the public, also must have licenses. Kmart, Dicks Sporting Goods, Walmart and many other retail stores must have licenses, even though they only sell shotguns for game hunters and some ammo. Companies that deal solely with local, state and federal government firearms sales (The largest consumers of firearms in America) are also required to have FFLs. The idea that there might be more FFL licenses in the area than Quick Trip is a comparison which demonstrates a complete lack of knowledge when it comes to grasping the dynamics surrounding FFLs and their issuance. Lets not even address the months of investigation that frequently occur between applying for an FFL and its being issued. I also will not address the license related to actual automatic firearms possessed by legitimate and legal individuals who virtually never sell firearms.

It is clear that whoever wrote this hack story was not about the victims, but rather seized an opportunity to take another libtard type stance against firearms. It is also clear the fucktard doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground and was armed with NO real facts about firearms purchases - an even worse problem when it comes to contemporary journalists and left wing hacks.

  15. Boring. Typical responses. Troll piece and the morons come running. Rest assured you'll get the "cars kill more people" false equivalencies and the gun nuts coming out telling us how super armed they are, the NRA goons, and the bottom of the barrel racists. This is low-hanging fruit. It's been done and by better writers. You dummies can't wait to wade into the sewer though, so enjoy the filth.

  16. 11:02, It's amazing how many billions of guns will sit in holsters, rest in retail displays, stay in gun safes, are carried by soldiers, and gather dust in closets---AND THEY'LL NOT SUDDENLY GET AWAY, LOAD THEMSELVES, AND SHOOT WHOEVER THE HELL THEY WANT!!!

NOW, YOU'RE TERRIBLY TRIGGERED, SO RUN BACK TO YOUR SAFE SPACE, AND STOP SHOOTING OFF YOUR PRISSY PIEHOLE!!!

  18. What these people are saying is that inner city blacks lack the self control to have an argument without resorting to gun play. They are saying something in their genes or culture causes this. So while white people could have guns without a problem we need to ban them so blacks don't kill each other. This sounds about as racist as a lot of the posters here.

  19. Blacks kill people and aren't responsible enough to have guns so take them from the blacks

  21. They're so many illegal guns in the hood it's ridiculous, very few hoodrats own legal guns because they don't want them traced back to them. Gun haters are gonna hate only because they're scared of them, they stay uninformed and misguided by the media. I own many guns and carry on occasion only if I have too. I've learned when and where to have them on me. My general rule of thumb is if I have to carry to go there I just don't go there unless I absolutely have too. Stay out of the hood at all cost and stay away from where the blacks hang out and you'll be fine.

  22. Byron Funkhouser8/31/17, 2:27 PM

    "to blame"

    Of course not, that's ridiculous.

Whether there are "too many" gun shops is a separate issue. Can you legally buy an AK-47? "the preferred weapon of your enemy"? That is another separate issue.

These people are responsible for their own choices.
