  1. With well over 100 homicides in KCMO year after yer after year, and less than 50% of them ever solved, there are thousands of cold case files and still very little cooperation from people in "the community".
And very little leadership to assist or encourage residents to work with the police.
Instead, the "leaders",groups, and nonprofit organizations are out marching around protesting events in other cities, blaming the police or pretty much everything other than the local perpetrators, and constantly ignoring the issue staring them right in the face here at home.
As long as these people focus on historical victimization, real and imagined, instead of addressing the issues of the 21st Century and playing a role in constructively and effectively improving them, both the homicide rates and the unacceptably low murder clearance rates will continue.
More tears, more balloons, more vigils, more 35 second local television spots.
It's really not hard to predict the outcomes.

  6. The police can't just conjure up evidence without help from the community. When they don't talk, the crime doesn't get solved. If anyone out there has a solution to this problem, please step forward. We would love to hear about it.
