Listen to the sound of $100 MILLION WASTED over a generation and still no viable biz model. But don't get too high & mighty considering how much the P&L District loses every year . . . Sadly, flushing this cash down the drain has become a tradition that has endured much longer than the jazz age. Check the latest ask:
Jazz District marks year's progress with $7 million in city funds, but needs much more
Kansas City officials met Wednesday at the 18th and Vine Historic Jazz District to mark a year's progress since the City Council approved $7 million in funds for the area. But they acknowledged much more work, and millions more dollars, are needed to help the district reach its full potential.
no more money for this black hole. There is no competent management so why bother with it? White people don't want to go down there, and that's who pays the bills.
ReplyDeleteDear Heroic Taxpayers! We need more MONEY!
ReplyDeleteYet they keep handing out tax abatement's to developers.
ReplyDeleteBest thing for 18th and Vine would be turning the Gem Theatre into a retro grindhouse showing old movies from the '60s, 70's and '80s. Other then that I have no reason to be there.
ReplyDeleteI thought all the downtown hipsters and implant millennial would be swarming to this district to make it vibrant.
ReplyDeleteBuild 20 restaurants that serve $17 smashed avocado on toast, $20 bowls of Ramen, and $14 juicy fruit artisan cocktails and they will come.
ReplyDeleteOh yah just what KCMO needs more bars and restaurants.
ReplyDeleteAND A FEW BLOCKS WEST THE CROSSROADS IS THRIVING.
ReplyDeleteNo, no, no, no, NOOOOOOOOOO!
ReplyDeleteNeed more money for what
ReplyDeleteWez needs to be drivin Escalades
ReplyDeleteI'll bet they get the money. Even the veiled threat of being called racists will motivate the guilt ridden whites on the city council to dig deep into our pockets.
ReplyDeleteOUR POCKETS. !
ReplyDeleteEnough is enough, time to admit it was a huge mistake and cut the money off.
ReplyDeleteNot one more penny. Let private investors have it. We have been fleeced way, way too much. Cleaver and his grifters have had way too much skim money. Let it live or die of its own volition.
ReplyDeleteI love jazz, but I will not go there. Crime, DUI check points and high prices keep me in suburbs. Move the jazzfest to Oak Grove Park in Gladstone.
ReplyDeleteNo one in their right mind would travel to that part of town. I don't even like the Crossroads District because of the hipsters and geeks. Oh, and to the anonymous poster at 5:47 p.m. who suggested moving the jazz fest to Oak Grove Park in Gladstone. HELL, NO. The neighborhood around that park cannot sustain heavy traffic and parked-up streets. Keep it south of the river.
ReplyDeleteRename streets so 18th and Vine is in the middle of the Power & Light Drunk Tank, problem solved!
ReplyDeleteWhat a big-time entertainment town KCMO is!
ReplyDeleteOne taxpayer-subsidized financially disastrous Disneyland after another.
The city that never sleeps!
More Kool Aid, please!
18th & Vine is to handouts as boons are to.......handouts.
ReplyDeleteP&l failure is ok, you white people ain't shit. Highlight the failures of others to cover your major fuckups. Ps stupid fucks, the money went to all white people anyway. Y'all just dumb as fuck. No black people made any money on the last financial allocation. So shut the fuck up. But you give blight incentives to crown center, fuck you crackers. Look in the mirror. Economic Foodstamp abusers
ReplyDelete5:56 you are too funny. Of course it's the white tax payor at fault.
ReplyDeleteSo, 5:56, African-American Princes & Princesses are obviously the opposites of those damned Whites in everyway, right?
ReplyDeleteAnd as you say, "whites ain't shit!
So blacks ARE...???
Crooks are running the show and will continue to run the show and will continue to eat up our millions in tax money to purchase they shiny caddies.
ReplyDeleteThey've proven OVER AND OVER they have zero accountability, and yet they demand more money!!!
Does anybody realize just how much A MILLION DOLLARS is? What in the holy fuck are they doing with all these MILLIONS of dollars?
Every person 'working' there should be investigated. Their homes, cars, lifestyles. Trials, convictions and prison time for all.
Blacks bring their own bottles and only buy set-ups and do not tip. That is why black bars always fail.
