Suspect said he was trying to get the attention of police with an assault rifle. He succeeded:

Man charged with firing gun in busy Midtown neighborhood

A man has been charged with firing a rifle Monday in a busy Midtown neighborhood. Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker charged Brent A. Lambi, 57, with unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. Kansas City police were called at 9:27 a.m. to 39th and Main streets on a report of gunshots.
