KANSAS CITY NEIGHBORHOOD QUESTION: WHERE'S WALDO FLOOD CONTROL?!?!

Whilst local leaders debate the merits of a new downtown hotel, airport and toy train line.

Here's the reality in local neighborhoods:

Fox4: Residents in the Waldo neighborhood say they have lakefront property despite being landlocked, and say the city won’t do anything about it.

A flood of problems persist in the area of 76th and Pennsylvania.

“When it downpours, for instance like yesterday, when it down-poured for maybe 10 minutes, our street was flooded, we’ve got two walls here that are almost two to three-feet high, and it was to the top of the walls, and it took almost an hour to drain . . .”

You decide . . .

  1. Brookside got new sewer and storm lines, first thing.

Waldo, Marlborough and East KC get what amounts to open sewage pits and cess pools. All for the prilivage of paying higher water bills no one can afford and never really solving the problem.

Is Burns & Mac involved again?

  2. Give Scott Taylor and Kevin McManus a call about neighborhood issues and they will tell you they don't have any money.

  3. Move away from 76th and Penn.

  4. Come on people, they don't have the money to fix Streets and Sewers!

The $800 million Bond Issue is earmarked for the initial 1/3rd payment to get the Single Terminal Airport started, with the remainder of the $2.4 billion cost to be raised in later Bond Issues so we won't have "wasted the first $800 million"!

Besides we have to get cash flowing to Burns & Mac so thy can settle up for the Branson Airport that collapsed two years after they built it!

  5. If you live in a flood-prone area, don't expect the City to help. In fact, we never expect the City to do ANYTHING for the taxpayers. We are told to pay up and shut up.

  6. If you would have voted for the streetcar we might fix the sewers.
