CLAY CHASTAIN RAGES AGAINST DEAD-TREE KANSAS CITY MEDIA BEFORE STREETCAR EXPANSION QUESTION 2 VOTE!!!

Mr. Chastain touts the huge share of mind his opposition holds over him rather than touting the merits of his surprisingly well-supported plan in his pre-election presser . . .

Clay Chastain: Ballot Question #2 still has a good chance to win voter approval.

The people's petition-sponsored Ballot Question #2, to modernize the City public transportation system, stands a good chance to win Tuesday even though it did not stand a chance with the Star's Editorial Board. The reason...its not their idea and Clay Chastain is behind it. The Star said Ballot Question #2 was "a bad idea" even though the area's foremost expert transit advocacy group, the Kansas City Regional Transit Alliance (KCRTA), has endorsed Ballot Question #2.

What is a "bad idea" is that...a non-technically grounded, non-expert, transit-ignorant group of self-imposed newspaper people can impose their biased personal opinion upon the community by exploiting the power of a newspaper.

Here is proof the majority of this paper's editorial board cares more about stopping Clay Chastain from accomplishing a long overdue improvement for the City, than they care about the well being of Kansas City...

(1) Dave Helling...he once wrote that Kansas City would have light rail if it were not for Clay Chastain. Even though, I am the only one to ever win a light rail election. Mr. Helling said recently on "Week in Review," "don't go to sleep on Ballot Question #2." In other words, Chastain's Ballot Question #2 may pass so make sure you get out and vote against it. Mr. Helling never wrote anything in protest when the City Government over turned an election and the stated will of 75,000 voters who approved my 2006 light rail petition proposal.

(2) Steve Kraske...for 11-years, he has repeatedly refused my requests to be on his "up to date" public radio show to inform the public about transit proposals before the voters. Mr. Kraske never wrote anything in protest when the City Government over turned an election and the stated will of 75,000 voters who approved my 2006 light rail petition proposal.

(3) Lee Judge...he has doodled some 40-cartoons mocking me since I first began trying to improve Kansas City 36-years ago. Mr Judge never doodled a cartoon in protest when the City Government over turned an election and the stated will of 75,000 voters who approved my 2006 light rail petition proposal.

(4) Mary Sanchez...My 11-year old daughter, who accompanied me to my interview with the Star's Editorial Board, said this about Ms. Sanchez and Mr. Helling..."Daddy, they (Sanchez and Helling) were not very nice to you. They were kind of rude, disrespectful and smirky." Ms. Sanchez never wrote anything in protest when the City Government over turned an election and the stated will of 75,000 voters who approved my 2006 light rail petition proposal.

It matters not that we disagree. It matters how and why we disagree. The Star Editorial Board disagreed with Ballot Question #2 for the wrong reason, and for this they should be ashamed.

Ballot Question #2 is a vote Tuesday not just to improve Kansas City and its public transportation infrastructure, it is also a vote against the biased Kansas City Star and a dictatorial mayor who both abuse their power.
