Will Kansas City Save Westport???

Historic preservation has failed and a building boom continues despite neigbhorhood complaints. Sadly, local media mostly misreports "compromise" in order to push the City Hall agenda. Here's the latest exmaple:

Old Westport faces choices: What's worth saving as redevelopment continues?

On a walking tour Saturday, leader Nancy Powell noted that when railroads replaced pioneer trails, the historic town of Westport lost its dominance as the outpost where pioneers, trappers and explores outfitted themselves before heading west. Now another form of progress - redevelopment - is challenging what remains of old Westport in midtown Kansas City.

  7. We in Northeast are losing 5 historic colonnade apartments and several homes to a university for a parking lot. The apartments and homes were contributing entities to an Historic District... the city removed them from that protection and demolition is coming soon. My point is, there is NO hope for history or tradition in this city under the current mayor and council.
